At the end i bought the car!
yesterday i take it to home and now i am starting to dismount it.
someone said me to contact with Richard Sails, i do it and this person said me this information
It is an 1800S Mk 3, Left Hand Drive, built in Feb 1966, original colour sand. (thanks him)
now i have a lot of cuestions.
the first one if someone have schematics, manuals, and things like that.
the second one are this, hehe
the front lights are the same of a mini classic
the external manacle of the doors ¿? i read that you can use of a mini too
the engine?? have comom pieces of a mg engine?, i am going to rebuild it and to find gaskets, the rings for the piston etc..
the intermittients i don`t find nothing, the same with the brushes, and the bumpers
the back window i only find a person that sold it
the brake sistem? is from som car¿?
the suspension sistem.... i read that the first ones was copied for a vw and have common parts
the edge of the windows, if someone has some ideas, i dont have that parts
this are my first cuestions, hehe.
now the photos of the machine...

No manual for these as far as I know. If there is shout out, I d love to hear about that too!

Yes. Indicator lamps often seem to also be mini or similar, but apparently they were originally made by Sparto. They have been remade by Geert van Hout of the Scimitar and TVR centre, but do come up very rarely on e bay. Also used on early land rovers. Check with specialists who may have spares.
the external manacle of the doors ¿? i read that you can use of a mini too.
These were used on a number of other cars in period, mainly Triumph mayflower and Nash Metropolitan. Reproductions are available in the US and there is a guy who occasionally offers them on E bay, complete with lock (user name is Wilmotlockman or similar, if I recall correctly). Only the drivers side is fitted with a lock as standard.
the engine?? have comom pieces of a mg engine?, i am going to rebuild it and to find gaskets, the rings for the piston etc..
Engine is MGA or later on, MGB if I recall correctly, so all parts available from the usual sources.
the intermittients i don`t find nothing,
I don't understand your translation here. Maybe you mean the rest of the drive train (gearbox, differential and drive shafts?) I don't know about the clutch and gearbox on these cars. I am guessing MG to go with the engine. Drive shafts, were from a now obsolete type of truck used on building sites. Many suppliers can make suitable custom replacements from your old ones as a pattern. Specialists who post on here no doubt have better sources and knowledge on this.
The differential is a special TVR alloy casting, but with internals from MGA/B. I believe its called as "Banjo" differential. These come in several different ratios. I think I am right in saying the standard is 3.9:1 but I stand to be corrected on that.
he same with the brushes,
Suspension bushes are the same as TR6 rear suspension, but can't remember which part of the suspension they come from.
and the bumpers
These are TVR special castings. They are occasionally available second hand. Try Steve Reid.
the back window i only find a person that sold it
I believe, from speaking to Steve, that they were originally polymer, not glass, although the later glass windows do fit. Acrylic and Perspex are available, again Steve can advise on the best.
the brake sistem? is from som car¿
Almost all from TR6 especially at the back, which is all TR6 from the back plate forward. The Girling cylinders (master and slave) are available as reproductions. For slave cylinders check the internal diameter, as at least two types are are available. Front callipers can be reconditioned by several suppliers, but reproductions are also available. Cost of a good reconditioning is the same as a reproduction, but check the size of the mounting holes is correct.
the suspension sistem.... i read that the first ones was copied for a vw and have common parts
Here there might be some differences from the series one vixen. Later cars (after the Grantura III) are independent suspension by wishbones. I think I am right in saying that the earlier wishbone cars used Triumph Herald lower front wishbones and tubular TVR top wishbones. Later cars such as my Series one Vixen, and I think the Grantura 1800S, used custom made tubular items for both. The top swivel joint that holds the top of the upright is also a TVR special item but available from TVR specialists. The front upright is a Triumph Herald item and easily available from Triumph parts suppliers, but be careful, the stub axle is TR6, not Herald.
Suspension bushes are TR6, but as I said, I can't remember which one of the suspension bushes it is. They are cheap. There is much debate over polymer or rubber. Check back through the threads on here if the search works.
the edge of the windows, if someone has some ideas, i dont have that parts.
These are Custom TVR. As is the glass. Second hand glass is bound to be available due to the number of race car conversions. Steve or Adrian may well have second hand window frames etc. but I am sure new ones can be bought. They are a very simple construction.
I would also add that the winder mechanisms are hard to find. Many cars from the period including Morris minors (rear door, one side only) use similar winders, but the position of the arm that moves the window, and the length and bend pattern are different from one car to another, as are the size of the mounting lugs. Again, check the specialists who may well have a just what you need.
I hope that helps in the short term. Best of luck with the rebuild.
this are my first cuestions, hehe.

Hi and well done on the new purchase. Speaking from experience, you have a long job ahead of you. yesterday i take it to home and now i am starting to dismount it.

The car is very similar to a Vixen series one, and this is the car I have been rebuilding since 2010. I have answered some of your questions above, based on what I know from my own rebuild, but do check with the specialists.

The suspension is not the same as a VW, that was from the earlier Granturas using the torsion springs.
The engine is probably MGB, spares are plentiful and not too expensive. Gearbox and rear diff internals are from the same car but the diff casing is special to TVR.
The headlights are simple 7 inch round ones from many cars of the age.
The rear brakes are from a Triumph (TR4 possibly) but the drive shafts are from Austin Westminster and are very rare to find.
Steering rack is Triumph Herald and is upside down and has a section removed in the middle, you should see the welding.
Many other bits are from classic British cars of the late 1950s and 1960s and you will have fun matching the bits, for example the front windscreen is Ford Consul.
The rear screen is special TVR but is being remanufactured now and is expensive (but not eye watering).
Good Luck - Russ
PS I had an 1800s Mk III which went to Belgium and still have an 1800s Mk IV which needs a total rebuild.

I may be wrong but I thought if the identity was 18/xxx it was Mk IV, as the Mk IIIs 1800S models were 65/5/xxx.
To be correct the engine should be a 3 bearing MGB unit with a 3 synchro non overdrive gearbox. The correct axle ratio is 4.3 from an MGA rather than the 3.9 MGB unit which ran 14" rather than 15" wheels. The door handles are Standard 10. The other info is pretty accurate.
Good luck with it.

I gave the chassis number and the tvr classic club said me the information. Mk3 1800s. I have a mowog 1800 engine with numbers 12h1365 12h1442 12h1777.
The engine is running yet!!! I work on in a flew days and the sound is great.
I cut the fiberglass to take out the structure. I am going to change two pipes and start mounting it. The change I don't known . Is a mowog too but I don't now the number of gears. It drawing put 4 gears and reverse.

From an earlier thread (if we believe the books!) ...
Conversely, if the number is 18/045 or higher then it would probably have been a Grantura MkIV 1800S.
If the chassis number is 18/027 to 18/044 then it could be either as the chassis numbers for the two models were intermingled for a while.

but the first problem, its the serial number, the chassis number complete, maybe i dont have any posibility to know were was the plate of the car, i am triing to know if the car was registered in spain, the number is not so clear, someone knows the secuence
i think this one is 180XX but maybe 190XX
To maybe help you with the chassis number, according to the books I've read, if the number is 18/026 or lower then it would probably have left the factory badged as a Grantura 1800S (also known sometimes as a 'Grantura MkIII 1800S').i think this one is 180XX but maybe 190XX

the first i have to change some tubes (pipes) that were damage
i put it in a bank(bench) of work because it have a deviation in the front for an old colision. i little one but i whant to probe the bank, when all was in his position sandblasting and now paintintg.
