Milton do an after market one ... http://www.105speed.com/default.asp?id=286 bottom of the catalogue....
That's the problem. Most type 3 'boxes have screw-in gear levers.
This 'box requires a bolt-in lever.
Bolt holes appear to be the same configuration as those on a type 9 box.
Which gets me back to the original question - will the lever from a type 9 5-speed box fit a late model type 3 4-speed box ??

The type 3 on the Burton Power site looks (I think) like yours.
I see what you mean about the type 9.
From everything I saw on the Google, you must be right.
How much can you get a t 9 shifter/cover for? If it's inexpensive, why not just find out if it fits? Are they to be had from a local breaker?
Best,
B.

You will probably find that your box is a very late type 3 run out box fitted to an early sierra or late cortina, probably a poverty spec model during the switch over.
Ford were never one for bespoke manufacture so as a betting man I would state that the gear lever assemblys are a bolt in swap,
A scrappy should sort you out...That said these days it is becoming harder and harder to find a good scrappy...No one seems to maintain cars for longer than 3 years any more!!

The pictures I've seen the shifter does look the same as the type 9 but as posted when was the last time you saw a Sierra in a breakers yard? Best look to eBay I think
Edit: Just looked there is plenty of type 9 gear sticks in eBay.

Went looking for a bit for my S series little while back, general reply was "Sierra, ain't seen one of those for years and if we did it would be crushed straight away, no one wants parts for those any more" !If it's any help I have a type 9 hanging around, could take a tracing or measurements of bolt pattern?
