Well after a ten hour round trip I have got the car home big thanks to John B for his help today. The car is a lot better than I had hoped; the main chassis looks solid with some surface rust but outrigger look quite rusty but I will have to wait untill the body is removed to know more.
The car has been completely stripped by the previous owner who was going to renovate the car himself but after 2 years decided for whatever reason not to finish what he had started. So I have boxes and boxes of parts but he has bagged and tagged most things so hopefully all will be ok on reassembly.
The car has not been used since around 2000 but was stored in a dry garage, I don’t have much in the way of history only one print out from somewhere but no garage name I will post a picture to see if anyone recognizes the layout. In 1999 but less than 1000 miles ago according to this invoice it had a recon unleaded engine stainless manifold etc. etc.
Some pictures
First the service print

On the way home

Arrived

Boxes of parts

If anyone can help me with any history of the car if it was known who owned it etc
the car was origionally white
Chris

I know the bonnet was replaced in 2000 and by the looks of it reprayed with about 20 rattle cans. the rear is better but the whole car needs repainting but its solid no crack or micro blisters.

Body is ready to come off. Wherever that fibre matting is the metal is rotten so will definatley need some work in that area.
Could only load one picture from my iPhone for some reason but will get some more up when the body is removed

Some more pictures body still on but will be coming off this afternoon

The front around the engine right the way to the back is solid with only surface corrosion but around the diff there are areas that are rusted through. The outriggers are rusty but not holed but will need replacing.
More pics when the body is off

Exacty what you would expect after 35 years
This was my 3000s when it was restored and i expect the Taimar to be the same when body comes off.

Before

After

depending on how much needs to be cut out it may be better to get a new one but most are savable with some work

Looking good Chris

My Chassis looked reasonable when I took all of the matting away, but following a shot blast it looked like swiss cheese, its still being done at the moment!
The outriggers and mounting plates have been renewed, simply because it made sense to do so.
There was also a bit of a suprise on the front lower square section which was gone even though everything around it was sound!

Ours is chassis 4148FM so they "should" be quite similar. Let me know if you need pics of anything.

What a rot-box… I’d give up now if I were you LOL… laugh

No, seriously, I think you’ve got off lightly there.. it could have been much worst… A bit a tube and a Mig it will be all sorted and look like the black one above in no time…yes

Will try get my welder functioning 100% if you fancy a go…. .

It will all be worth it when you have a fully restored 3000M on the road!!
cool

hm, depends on how costly a new or already refurbished chassis is.
