I saw a few alfa replicas at Stoneleigh last year, in a similar style. So I presume there are, afraid I don't know what they were though.
There's the Ronart (and I believe the 'Vanwall' by the same guy was briefly offered as a kit before it went up-market) and the original front-engined, Renault-5 based Brooke. There's also a very nicely built and convincing 'Alfetta' replica that turns up at Stoneleigh most years, but I'm pretty sure its a one-off.

There is a guy in the Kent Kitcar club who has a red one-off single seater, quite a feat of engineering. Use I believe Citroen and Renault parts, all aluminium body. Don't think he sells them though, and I think that is probobly the car you saw.
I remember that, it's a real work of art, but no, it's not that one. There were three IIRC, a bit further down from the Tigers and Stratos replicas, opposite the Ultimas.

Originally Triumph Herald/Spitfire chassis, later redeveloped as a spaceframe + Fiat Twin Cam, I think.Renault 5 based, IIRC
It was the first Brooke (tandem 2-seater) that was the R5 based car, though the aforementioned one-off special also uses Renault components. The advantage of the Renault was that it gave you a longitudinal engine behind the front axle, but being FWD no propshaft, so lent itself to 50's style fornt engined single seaters without the need for the drop gears or offset transmissions that the genuine articles use as a means of lowering the propshaft under the seat.
