Well, after two and a half years of building and plenty of hanging around waiting for parts, the day finally arrived – SVA!

Got there nice and early 0745 (trailered the car) and had 45 mins wait while they retested another car. I had huge butterflies and was convinced it would fail on hundreds of things, the test was thorough but very fair and Chris the tester allowed me to fix a fuel leak, adjust the headlamps, adjust the CO (went from 5 to 1.3 on a qtr turn of the potentiometer!) and tie up some cables – All this and it still FAILED

Failed on Brake union weeping, Repeater out, needed rubber between Clutch pipe and cable ties?, Lock tab on Driveshaft, handbrake cable too close to bottom pulley, Grommet on main loom out of place and loose wires to the reverse sensors. – not too bad.

Not to be beaten I asked what was the quickest re-test they could do? The guys there said “bring it back anytime and we’ll fit you in” can’t argue with that can you?

So Mr Impatient burned down the Motorway, Using the ramps from the trailer as a pit, took 40 minutes to fix all the problems, burnt back up the Motorway, fitting in a Life insurance Medical on the way! And was back at the test centre for 1400.

A fifteen minute wait – and………………ITS PASSED!!!!

Down to the DVLA office tomorrow to sort out the Registration, then away we go.

I am a very happy Bunny

Well done! You always were impatient - but also very thorough when it came to working on the car.

Where do I join the queue for a ride?

and whats the next project?

Congratulations on passing your SVA. Double congrats for passing when you wanted to (May in your profile, although it doesn't say a year )

One assumes it's heading to PF then

Congrats on finishing one of the bestlooking cars on the kit car market (and production) today.

Well done, be great to see it in the flesh!

Great news Nick. Just a pity it couldn't have been a week earlier...

Thanks for all the Congrats chaps.

Forgot to mention one other slight hitch:-

Make sure the manufacturers give you the correct Design axle weights for your cars, when the computer added on the expected weights for people and luggage my back axle weight (guessed by Norman at Phantom!) was 4, yes 4kg out. This meant I had to nip round an get a letter from Phantom to say that the design weights had been "revised" in order to pass the test.

It seems it doesn't matter how much higher the weights are than the possible calculation but they must not be lower.

By the way the car weighs 1100kg witha full tank and a few tools (plus a thousand cable ties in readiness).

As another guy mentioned I too had real problems getting on the ramp! scraped alll the sill infill panels. They could do with a less aggressive lead to the ramps, how do Ultimas get on?

Adjustable ride height. Up for SVA ramps and rollers down again to go on the road.
