Looking for Lathams
Discussion
On behalf of the club registrar I'm on the lookout for any surviving examples of the Dolomite Sprint-based Latham component car. Around 20 kits were produced by Latham Sports Cars of Bicester during the late 1980s and early 90s, but only a dozen or so were ever completed.
The car was pretty unique (not only because so few were made!) since it was reputed to be one of the first open-top two seater all-composite monocoques to hit the road. The only metal between the front and rear bulkeads was the propshaft. An unfinished example was reputed to be housed in the Reynard workshops when they were working on the design for the original Panoz GT1 racecar, and the rear of the two cars is spookily similar.
If you own one of these cars, or know the whereabouts of any (finished or not), could you post a note here? In the meantime I'll see if I can pursuade anyone to host a photo for me.
