I have recently bought a Tiger Cat E1 fitted with Tyfoon (yes that is how it is spelt) tyres, I haven't had much chance to try them but does anyone have any experience/knowledge of this make ?

What tyres are others using and having good experience of on 7 type cars ?

What pressures should I be running (205/50-15) on this kind of car ?

I would appreciate any replies to these questions.

I run 19psi all round on mine which has 185x60x14 Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres. They seem pretty good and don't suddenly let grip go like some of the Yokos which to me is a good thing. They're also very good in the rain if you get caught out . Nothing worse than a tyre that grips and grips and grips then suddenly breaks away leaving you in a ditch!

No idea about the Tyfoons I'm afraid.

Thanks KITT

I have F1s on my Impreza and they have been good, I was cuaght out on a wet road at very low speed last weekend but I hope it was just a combination of light/unfamiliar car and heavy right foot rather than crap tyres.

I will probably change them for something more familiar soon though.

I haven't checked the pressures yet but will do so at the weekend, thanks again for the info.

I use 205/50/15 Yokohama A520's (briliant tyre in the dry not so good in the wet, this is proberly due to the lack of weight). on-road i run 17psi all around, on track i run 14-15 psi

where do you get the A520's from. I thought they had been superseeded by the A539 (have both and prefer the A520 ). Cryil Wilcox at a guess???????

195-50-15 on a Fury. Looks like yours might be too big!!!!to fit under my arches... This is not looking too good is it??????? Any bigger and it rubs the sides and I think I've taken as much off (the arches) as I dare to. How on earth does a reply about tyre size end up like this?/???/drink::

I'm using Yoko A539s (185/60/14s) on my Cat. (I'm assuming you have a super cat?)

I run 24 front and 22 rear. Great in the dry, but given Matt's figure of 19psi all round perhaps a little high for the wet. ...but the I never go out in the wet in the Cat.....

I've found that having the dampers set quite soft at the rear allows me to run the rear tyres at slightly higher pressures without compromising grip...

Must resist the temptation to post that link of the interesting lines you took at Castle Combe!

Last time I saw Kev out on a track was at the Haynes Motor Museum sprint track and I must say he was very smooth with pretty good lines (until he span )

link here: www.swtoc.co.uk/sprint.html

although I can't talk as I also span

I've been round castle combe with TigerK and througoughly enjoyed being a passenger, he then went again in the wet on his own, so it was probably not having my several stone of ballast that affected the amount of grip available!

sorry Kev!
