I have recently bought a Tiger Cat E1 which has twin horizontal 45's and rusty bell mouths (horns) but no filters.

Can anyone recommend a filter and source of filter, the cut out in the side of the bonnet is quite small and I would lilke to keep it that way if possible, but would prefer to fit some kind of air filter.

Thanks

Have a look at demon tweeks catalogue for the large and smal filters of this world ( sock/trumpet filters might be what you are looking for)

Piper X do individual foam ones that slip over each mouth, they would probably be the smallest you will find. Try Merlin, rally design, or Demon Tweeks.

Maybe a bit late now, but I'd go along to Stoneleigh kit car show in a couple of weeks as they'll be quite a few traders selling them and at a much cheaper price then Demon Tweeks et al.

Also I'd go for the ones that cover 2 trumpets as they won't get sucked over the trumpets and restrick the airflow as much as the single ones. (see my profile for a pic of them)

Well KITT, your car looks remarkably like mine, apart from the filters of course.

I have ordered ram pipes and single filters (socks) from the local distributer, they should be here tomorrow I hope and I can fit them at the weekend.

I like the look of yours though, and your comment about the filters getting drawn into the carbs is a little concerning, still if they don't work well I will just have to get something else.

Thanks

The individual "sock" type filter is probably the "BEST" at restricting air flow i.e. they reduce the air flow the most. This is because they are too close to the trumpet bell mouth and impede the smooth flow of air into the trumpet. The further away you can get the trumpet from surrounding surfaces that impede air flow the better. But having said that for most applications I would have thought the "sock" to be of little hindrence. If you are not going for max.BHP and don't want to cut body work etc etc then any filter is better than no filter..
