I have a Panther Kallista, lets get the following out of the way -
No its not a kit car
Yes I know the rear axel is "poorly" positioned
Yes I know the front end is from a cortina
Yes I know its got a lot of granada/capri in it
Yes I knew that the car handled like a dog when I bought it...
Ok, so know thats out of the way....

I have had the car for a year or so and its staying for the foreseeable future (I like the way it looks and its actually really good fun, as long as you don't want to go round any corners) so I want to improve its handling. I don't expect it to drive like my Elise but I am sure it can be made far better.

I have had the geometry set and new tyres fitted (it hadn't been touched for the best part of 20 years) which made a major difference - its now handles shite instead of being dangerous

Budget wise I can go up to ~ £2000.

So can anyone name any company's in the north west (Manchester would be easier) that can have a nosy at it can make some sensible suggestions?

A few people recommended Ric Woods (in Stockport), I popped in and was really impressed (certainly seemed to know what he was talking about), but I would like something to compare his prices/suggestions to.

Cheers for any help, Sean.

junk the live axle and go independent / de-dion?

on that car less unsprung weight the better.

I drove a few kallistas in my time, hated absolutely every single one of them with a passion. To call them crap is an insult to crap, how they ever sold any is beyond me! .. still sell they did albeit in small numbers, and if you like yours then great

I think you might be fighting an uphill battle though

Decent rear axle location - 5 link ? The problem might be finding something to weld onto
