I was just thinking about the current crop of replicas available and it got me thinking:

What do you think are the dead certs for future replikits?

For my money I could see a McLaren F1 being done eventually, and maybe the Zonda. Considering most of its ancestors have been replicated, the Ferrari 360 is pretty likely too, and I think once it has been replaced the Murcielago reps might pop up again. I could also see a Boxster kit for the MR2 maybe?

Any other suggestions?

Probably the new Ford GT. Lambo Murcielago (hopefully not another "Monkeylargo" though!). Zonda and Koenigsegg perhaps?

I could see the Porsche GT1 being replicated and the McLaren seems a certainty (although good luck with the lawyers to anyone who tries it ). Perhaps some of the Italian styling houses efforts - Lancia Hyena or the stunning Alfa concepts of the last few years ?

Not sure that the Noble will retain enough value for a replica to be likely ?

An Alfa Romeo Brera kit or Peugeot RC Concept would be awesome

To damn right! It's actually been made, apparently badged as a Maserati V8?

I was speaking to someone this weekend and he told me if there was a Merc 350 gulwing available he'd buy one.

Anyone know of a Gulwing Merc replica?

If not, it could be an ideal kit. Very desireable, very rare and it will always be very expensive. Add to this the ease of getting Merc engines and running gear, a rep would be quite authentic too.

Don't know about the Gullwing, but how about this:

Agreed..... when you look at the Veranti, a Boxster replica based on an MR2 wouldn't be that difficult for someone like John Barlow to come up with.....

And then fit an engine more at home in a Jaguar than a Metro.

Jaguar XJ220 for sure. Its got heritage, notoriety and is arguably one the finest looking cars of all time. If there was a replica - I'd get two.
Maclaren F1 gotta be a contender, be another replica to consider. The only modern Ferrari distinctive enough to spawn a decent replica is surely the Enzo.

Any pictures of it? I can't find any.

I hear very sketchy rumours of someone in the UK building a Macca replica(just the one for him AKAIK), but he's keeping his head down in case they set the lawyers on him...
