What sort of money do most pay to get small components powder coated?

Reason is, a small local engineering company has recently got the facility to do this and are thinking of offering their services to private individuals.

Obviously mail order costs will have to be taken into account, but carriage on up to 25kg is fairly cheap.

Do you think there is a lot of people would use such a service?

Yes, providing the cost was reasonable, bearing in mind you can get a full chassis done for around £150.

I think they are looking at around £3 - 5 per item depending on preparartion etc.

In the end everything is negotiable.

Hi
I used to work in a powdercoaters, a steel wheel degreased-grit blasted & powdered was £20 alloy £25, M/C frame + S/A £75, push bike frame + forks £25, min charge £25.
You will need to grit blast it first, even new steel, the adhesion to unblasted steel leaves a bit to be desired.
Personally I don't like the stuff.
Hope this helps

Hi all
I couldnt resist the temptation to post a reply to this subject.
I have a powder coating factory and I do not touch wheels full stop. We have all had the experience of Kwik Fit operators at some time and Powder coating does not stand up to that sort of treatment. Once chipped there is no going back ,water WILL get under the coating and it will fall off in time. UV rays WILL fade it in a very short time, even polyester paints !
Be very careful in what you are told, powder coating is not all that its cracked up to be. Anyone want to buy a powder coating factory ?? lol
