How to further reduce noise???
Discussion
Sorry Peter, I don't exactly understand which part of the exhaust you are on about. Do you mean that the 4 pipes coming out of the engine are noisy? if so, is this noisy where this exhaust manifold meets the engine block or are the pipes just resonating within themselves? If it is at the block, you can get exhaust manifold gaskets, or use some sort of fire Gum paste around the join. If the pipes themselves are resonating due to the pulses of the enging firing then you can either, live with it, get a different thickness/diameter of exhaust to change the note slightly, or even get different length of ehaust down pipe....thiese options will change your power characteristics though.
I don't know if it will quieten them, but you can get fireproof exhaust wrap (like a bandage) that wraps around the pipe to contain the heat, this could well quieten it...BUT BEWARE when using exhaust wrap in a fibreglass car you must wrap all of the pipes to the outside world, do not stop wraping withing the body work as the heat that hasn't built up will all suddenly appear at this spot and burn GRP if near enough.

Any good motor factor should stock them Good old pinto exhaust manifold gaskets. It will be 3 of one shape and one slightly different shape for number 1 cylinder.Remember the pinto was in production for many years from RWD escorts, cortina, granada, transit to the humble siera. I think they all use the same layout of "3 of one and one of the other".
the other thing about heat wrap, don't put it on cast iron manifolds I found that out after the previous owner put the stuff on, and then a tie to hold it in place.
I have a Morris Manifold which is neatly cracked in 2 in the back of my garage now. Still, only £50 to replace it. Horrible to say, but it made me feel much better when I was told Wildfire S3's was £330 for his TVR S3 (not as in, he's having to pay more but, thank god mines that expensive).
