There are a few rarely seen ones round near my old house in surrey - meet at the blue anchor pub in tadworth occasionally. Stunning looking but its always funny when they drive away - they really look a struggle to get into, and either they are running really really strong cams or their cars are tuned really badly, they always sound like a bag of below 3000 revs. that said, once they are past that
Without the doubt the best place to start is to get in touch with the GT40 club. They meet regularly, have a great newsleter and know absolutely everything you could ever want to know. Have a look at www.elysian-services.co.uk/gt40ec/.
a bit of a hijack, but what if you took a GT40 replica and made it into a more modern take on it, say something more like the current GT? Would that be legal (I remember the Monkey Largo).
If I had the skills I'd love to take a car like a GT40 replica and make it into a suitable and practical every day car (i.e. build form scratch to make it perfect for me)
