This morning, my girlfriend and I visited the GTM factory once more.

The deposit is paid and we pick the Libra kit up at the end of the month!

Now the hard work starts...

Fantastic news Lex. I'll mail you with some leads for some information you'll find priceless. What colour? What engine? What front clamshell?

Nice one Darran

Enjoy the build, but even better, enjoy driving it.

Is that a Metro donor then, or are you just buying the bits you need?

Thanks Ferg, that'd be handy. Paddy said to speak to you about seats as you should know your stuff about them by now...

I've gone for black, knowing that the surface quality might not be fantastic after a while due to fibre movement but should it need it, I'll have it sprayed as and when.

Planning to start off with a 1.8VVC 160 engine, thinking about the possibility of turbo-charging it just to add a bit of interest at a later date.

As for the front, I've just gone for a standard Libra clamshell. Overall I prefer it, plus there's then the possibility of the front splitter - I also have vague pie-in-the-sky ideas of fabricating a full aero kit for it with rear venturi, flat floor, etc.

And, with my new found pre-preg composite skills picked up on the course I've been on this week I may have to see what I can do about carbon fibre trim panels.

Cheers Mark. As for the donor, I think I'm going to save myself the hastle of that step and buy a donor pack from GTMs recommended supplier. As the monocoque should be ready towards the end of March, this way I should be ready to hit the ground running.

Now all I need to do is find the money.

That used to be a V6 only option......

Congratulations! Plenty of banter and build tips on the Team GTM forum. I'm half way through a VVC 160 Libra as below:

Absolutely! Very, very hard work, but very, very interesting. I now have a carbon fibre and kevlar model car to put on my bookshelf!

Cheers Ferg. As for black being only a V6 option - the way that I understand it is that lighter colours are better for gelcoat as dark colours absorb heat which leads to fibre movement which can result in a slightly less than perfect surface finish. As a result, they try to discourage people from choosing dark colours, especially black, but will allow people to choose it so long as they agree they won't get in a tizz if the surface quality isn't perfect after a year or two.

Thanks for the congrats Rich. I signed up to Team GTM yesterday and am commencing a mass read through old messages to try to avoid looking like a numpty by asking FAQs
