This board's been quiet for a bit, so I thought I'd try and throw in a new topic and see if it wakes anyone up.
The birth of my son back in January has scuppered any ideas I had for building a kit car. However, this does mean that all things being well, in about 10 years time I'll have a little assistant to help me on my project In the meantime, I can also try and save up some more cash!
With this in mind, what do you think is the best way to prepare myself is? What books should I be reading, and what is the best way to "indoctrinate" my firstborn? Suggestions welcome

The first contact with kit cars that my eight month old son had was at the open day at the Vintage Motor Company.
Well, ok, he did go all around Stoneleigh last year, but he was about seven weeks away from being born then!
At the Vintage Motor Company, he was about five weeks old, and was as good as gold.... no bawling, no "nasty" nappies to change.... (Actually, big thanks to Alan Beilby for accomodating us at feed time!)
But I guess the fist "big" exposure to the kit car fraternity was at Donington last September...... during the track day action, we went up onto the pit wall and watched the start/finish straight..... plenty of loud V8's..... and he slept through the whole thing!

Kids are for women to look after.
What's the problem?
Now your Mrs has something to do in her spare time while you are building the kit car.
Only problem I can see is that you need more than 2 seats!
Now that should invoke some dicussion

and the frying pan from your left ear as soon as mrs ex biker reads this forum
couldn't find an emoticon with a frying pan
PS You're not going to have to wait 10 years for assistance if my 2 are anything to go by. The eldest already wants to help build daddy's car

Quick joke along the lines of meejas last post
What have you done if your wife keeps coming out of the kitchen to nag you?
Made the chain too long!!!!!
I'l get me coat
Bear in mind that the length of the chain should always be determined by the distance between the kitchen and the bedroom.....

That's why Mrs spartan_andy like the Spartan, it's a 2+2.
If she likes it that much when I've finished it I'll give it to her and nick her fiesta as the donor vehicle for my next kit.
Hmmmmmmm. now that sound like the start of a plan. How's that new project coming chaps

Whilst taking my 4 yr old girl to Nursersy school this morning she was telling me to go faster and that she loves fast cars!
Mmm.... have to knock that out of her before she starts dating.
If you were on the school run, the reason she was telling you to go faster was probably because you were stationary at the time.
Therefore her definition of a fast car, is one that isn't overtaken by pedestrians!
A word of advice,
Early learning is a very important aspect of your son’s proper education.
So don’t go buying him ‘The Beano’ with that terrible role model ‘Dennis the Menace’.
What he needs is a good wholesome role model depicting integrity, values and above all kit cars.
I’d suggest you sign him up for a subscription to Which Kit?
