Where is the best place to buy, radiator hoses and pipework?

I need a few satndard bends and a some long tubes (to go front to back on the car).

The Libra uses 28mm aluminium pipe front to rear, but copper would be just as good I would imagine. Find a friendly Motor Factor and trawl through the weird and wonderful hose collection.

Pace Products www.paceproducts.co.uk stock standard sizes plus will make you whatever you like, good quality and not too expensive. They also stock silicone hose too.

I thought copper wasn't used as vibration makes it brittle, hence brake pipes are brass?

I think you'll find that most replacement brake and clutch pipes are pure copper!

My car uses 2 metre lengths of swaged alloy for the coolant and it was done very easily by a local tube supplier.

I think you'll find brake pipes are actually a copper/nickel/iron alloy...kunifer IIRC...

Could be wrong of course..

Copper, as available from plumber's merchants, will harden with vibration, but if clipped properly in rubber will be OK. Brake pipes are cupro-nickel I believe, Kunifer is a trade name isn't it???

I want coolant pipework, not brakes.
They are braided hoses!

I'd have thought that aluminium, stainless or some-such metal pipe for front-back would be the best idea. Then for hoses around the engine bay and radiator, I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. AFAIK, RalDes are quite good for Samco silicon hoses.

Then all you have to choose is what colour you're going to detail you engine bay in and get the right coloured hoses to match.

Merlin Motorsport do lengths of ally tube with a flange at each end, not desperately cheap but cheaper than buying yer own flaring tool...

Oh and you can find the latest Merlin catalogue in Kit Car this month - thanks kitcarman!

I know a man who can source all sorts of coolant hoses, cheap black not overpriced blue shiny gubbins. Just as long as you know what sizes and shapes you want... I'll let you know if I can find him!

Quick update - sorry to let you down, I dug out my contact info to no avail - company deals with trade only. You need a business account and references to get the good prices

Only other way to avoid spending on Samco is to run round the scrappies - mind you, at the prices main dealers charge for hoses it probably wouldn't save you the cost of a pint

For me to claim that one as my own, the passenger would need to be screaming.......

maybe I should just come up with a phrase, this one tickled me.....

"I want to die quietly in my sleep like my Grandma......... not screaming like her passengers!"
