Hi there, with all this negativity coming out of WK this month I just thourght I'd share with you all a POSITIVE thing that has come out of Piston Heads and Kitcar Magazine.
You all said that You like the idea of a kitcars only trackday, for like minded individuals...well, it's happening on April the 11th at Elvington Airfield near York. Full details will be in the mag (out in a couple of days), but you can book now for £89 for 2 drivers at www.javelintrackdays.co.uk
Now, I've invited a load of manufacturers, but only a few have so far said they want to attend. Due to some crossed wires between Myself and Den a price was never exactly finalised for passenger rides with the manufacturers (which is obviously an influencing factor with some companies). I'll get on to some of the manufacturers again, and if any of you know any companies that you want there, then ring / email them and ask them to attend (they need to contact javelin on 01469 560574).
More info to follow.

Thanks for the support (particularly you spartan', you saw me through the darkest times),
There are 42 places available for the event, with 8 gone already (albeit some provisionally). The venue location map can be seen on www.javelintrackdays.co.uk The only none kit that I'm expecting a WRC 4x4 cosworth Focus!, which is acting as pace car (and no doubt giving out some awesome rides).
Insurance has been the major bug bear, and I'm sure that it's something that other people don't consider when they organise similar events.
For a manufacturer to get suitable liability insurance (if they didn't have it already) it would cost £550 for the day! If Kitcar Mag supplied a cheap kit for people to thrash round in would also cost the same to them, it is therefore financially unviable for some people to attend. Some manufacturers already have such insurance for when they do "launches" at rockingham, or the Donnington show, and it's these companies I'm hoping to attract. I know that Dax have booked 2 cars, yet others (marlin / luego ) were questioning the appeal of an airfield event...a circuit is sexier, but more expensive, and with more to hit.
Any way, we will see. If anyone gets the new issue then I'd love to know what has been written about it!
Matt.

Matt,
Aren’t you getting it?
Bit of a personal question Den
As for the magazine, Yes, I'm getting the subscription fine thanks, I've just been away for a few days and other people might have got the mag before I got home to mine.
Glad to see your back on the forum mate.
The track day promo in this month’s Kit Car really isn’t as extensive as I would have liked.
In the April issue I’m going to do a better job.
Matt, Do you know how many places are left?
What’s missing from the write-up in the March issue?
The April issue comes out 3 weeks before the event and, if the write-up is good enough, should get the places fully booked.
Can you help (....again).

Hi there, Andy, as for Stafford, I can only hope to be there, ask closer to the event.
Den, I know what you mean about the coverage, but I'm just glad that Adam and team got something together in the very short time they had.
Places left available can be checked online at the javelin website, but I think that 8 are gone. (this includes those nice chaps from Mac1 and also I have been told that Dax have booked 2 cars.)
I did supply Adam with a full article to help out with his piece, nothing exciting, but a simple what happens on your first trackday, what to take, what to expect....all done in the style of actually attending an event and walking through the day, nothing to do with the driving, just a simple insight...but don't know if it's of any use.
I think that one major thing that you can get out of the day would be track tests of various cars. Who has honestly ever reviewed the Dax camber compensation in a situation where it makes a real difference?
Personally in your trackday build up (and all the time to be honest) I want to hear about the thrills of kitcar ownership, Hell, lets be honest, you don't buy them with your head...for me this month the ideal comparison was the mac1 coverage by road and track cars, and KCM....both very good, but taken separately the KCM article made me think " yes, a decent company, nice industrial unit, car looks good...will certainly consider". The R&TC article made me think "I want one!!"
Let me ponder this over night and get back to you, in what way did you think I could help?

Matt any chance of getting a copy of those articles, yours and the r&tc one on mac 1. Theres another article on totalkitcars re mac 1 and 2 chaps on a training course I'm running live in sheffield and building a locost from scatch and using bit from mac 1 so they are quite familiar with the guys
Matt,
I think I’ve done a better job this time around. The April issue shall have a double page spread made up of a simple statement as to price, place and JaveLin’s contact details on the left – including their snail-mail adderss and their number. On the right is a reiteration of what appeared in the March issue news pages except the bit dealing with track day insurance has been corrected.
I reckon it shall bring a few more drivers to the event
Den
PS. Your article got lost in the system. Any chance of sending a copy to me? I could use it in the run up to the next track day – assuming this one works.

Matt,
You will had to explained me what you meaned about that tension thing. Grammar has never was my stronger subject.
Insurance I do understand and have put matters to rights.
I’ll send you a pdf copy of the spread as soon as it’s done (Monday or Tuesday).
What happened was that Adam wrote two pages for the last issue, being mindful of my desire to support the event. Ian, not knowing what I’d said, thought Adam was getting carried away and exercised his editorial role and cut Adams piece down to one page. The result is what appeared.
Sorry!
The next piece should make up some lost ground and set the pace for the following kit car track day.
