Hi,
does anyone know of a supplier of Bullet mirrors which screw in from the outside? (i.e. instead of screwing in from the inside the wing, they can screw into solid metal)?

are you referring to torpedo mirrors as fitted to my mini (check profile) and available from www.minispares.com for £20.25 each?

thats the fella's, but they screw in from the inside of the wing i.e. a holes drilled in the body work and the bolt comes through it and clamps it on.

I can't do that, so need something that will screw into solid metal (something like a self taper would suffice I assume).

Just wondering if the torpedo/bullet mirrors were available with such mountings (most of the ones i have seen have the mountings which don't work )

All Torpedo middors screw on from the inside as I have 3 different sets for my mini. The MIni spares set are by far the best but are pricey compared to others. What they do is to screw a black, plastic mounting plate onto a ali plate inside the door, then the mirror screws on to this. Downside is that the plastic plate can break, and it is very esy to steal the mirrors as the plastic certainly isn't difficult to break off.

The others you can't see a blessed thing out of them so don't bother with them.

Chris, is that they screw into a plate which is inside the wing/other side of the body work to the mirror?

Could they be modified easily enough to screw into the rollover bar (where the mirrors are meant to go anyway).

Not sure about how much I'd see out of them to be honest, might look into getting some that are similar to the ones I already have but moving them upwards.

I suppose you could drill holes in the rollover bar and use self tapping screws to hold the plastic plate on. I'm not sure it would fit though. I would havr to have a look. Next time you're around my area give me a ring and I'll have a look.

coolies, It'll be a while tho I'd presume, not really wanting to take the car out until the weather fairs up a bit and the roads are cleaned.

Getting excited tho, fixing it next week

Europa spares show 5-6 bullet mirrors, one is described as Mini Racing Mirror and looks like it might fix from the front.......
