Action days update

OK, Den wanted an action days update,
(like I'm just supposed to get on and organise a huge event single handedly Quite why most manufacturers didn't say "where's the official kitcar mag headed paper?" and "who the hell are you anyway" is beyond me)

But, just for everyones info, there is to be a kitcars only trackday at Elvington Airfield near York on April 11th 2004 (easter Sunday). Sorry to all you darn sarf, but other events are in the pipeline for snetterton (and cadwell - not exactly down south I know). You are gaurenteed to be with like minded individuals and have a great time. It's a challenging circuit if you drive within the confines of the track, and a real hoot if you take it to the edge, and then some.
The event is an "open pitlane" so you can be on track as long as you like, catering is on site, as is free basic instruction for those who request it from more experienced trackday veterans. The cost for the whole thing is £89 !! Get along to www.javelin-motorsport.co.uk to book it. As you all know, numerous manufacturers were interested in attending and giving out fast passenger rides (although Den has to decide how much to charge them).
If you were attending, (even without a car to drive), how many laps would you want in each...at donnington you get 3 for £15!!!, I was thinking more like 3 laps from 10 manufacturers for £15!!!

Please post the contact details (email ideally), of KIT manufacturers you'd like there.....Whats that I hear? Razor? Python? etc, etc

I’m sorry that I’ve left you to deal with this all by yourself!

Truth is that I’ve been involved in all sorts of things myself. I also thought you were basically happy to be dealing with the track day thing without too much of my interference.

I really didn’t mean to take your efforts for granted. They are appreciated by me and I’m sure they’re appreciated by other folks on this forum.

It looks like you’ve made terrific progress which, if it’s all the same to you, I’ll build upon and begin to publicize.

The February 04 issue has been finalized (that’s why I didn’t post much last week), so publicity for the first event shall be restricted to the March and April issues.

I’ll be getting in touch with the organizers tomorrow and shall post as much detail as possible.

Fixing firm prices for both public and manufacturers track passes plus details and prices of public test ride tickets shall be my priority.

The plan is to charge people for a pass which will allow them to sample, as passangers, manufacturer’s cars on the track. Theory being that the money collected for such rides will be used to discount the price of manufacturer passes. Clearly, the more manufacturers the merrier. So, the cheaper their tickets the better.

Matt has done all the groundwork, so my job is (I hope) limited to doing a few sums and picking up all the credit.

Two questions

Matt says the price is set at £89 but Den says the price is still to be set...... I'm sure I've missunderstood could you clarify.

And, I am hoping to sell the Ultima but still want to go. If I havn't sold then no problem the Ult it is.... however If I have can I come in my boy racer car (modded Cossie)? or can I covert to the other non car offer?

Clarify these and I will book now as Yorks do-able for me.

I’ll be able to firm-up on exact pricing tomorrow.

I’ve got to clarify if that £89 mentioned by Matt is fully inclusive of all costs (such as VAT). I also wish to be assured that it’s fully inclusive of all the other costs which will be incurred.

In respect to the ‘park ‘n ride’ ticket prices. That’s more complex. It all depends upon how many takers verses how many manufacturers. I can see this as containing a lot of guesswork. Anybody out there educated enough to give me some ideas as to numbers in both categories?

I noticed the date for this, do you think there will enough support, due to it being an Easter Sunday?

I think it should be open to people who genuinelly own or are building a kit car.

However I do agree that you don't want it to end up like Donnington was this year with loads of normal cars just turning up for the track.
So I would understand if it was decided to be kit cars only.... I'd be disapointed though.

BTW what are the noise limits for the track?

I was only joking Andy, my point was, we don't want to be sharing the track with a load of Ford Cortinas, and boy racers with Vauxhall Corsas with "go faster stripes"..........

With regards to none kitcars, personally I'd rather just have kits. The spaces are limited and I'd like to maximise to amount of kitcars we see / experience enjoying themselves.
If you want to attend a trackday in a none kit, then there are plenty about, and there will be quite a few kits at them. Wouldn't you be miffed to find out that you couldn't attend a kitcar organised trackday, because a vauxhall nova has taken your place? Or that we have to say "sorry Ultima / westfield / tiger etc, we've run out of spaces due to the fast ford brigade"

I know it's at odds with what Den has said, but lets make this a great kitcar event.

As for pricing, this I why I haven't been able to get on with it, I have no authority to come up with prices that Den might not be happy with. The 89 quid is the organisers standard price, but this doesn't include the technicalities of cost for manufacturers, or the price of the "park and ride tickets"...Den has to sort out such details.

Yes the costs are for one car and 2 drivers, all additional drivers cost extra, as do passengers (but they are real cheap).

Wouldn't every kit owner be going out for a sunday blast anyway? I actually wanted sunday, as some people work saturday, (including manufacturers) and wouldn't be able to attend due to other commitments.

Actually there will be a religious aspect to the proceedings, cos' when I blast past everyone on the straight, everybody will cry Jesus!!!!
