We seem to have done the best or everyones dream kit, but what are the strangest ones.

This isn't a name and shame thing. I don't care about the worst (we could do that one later).

I'm thinking that thing that Fib's is driving around in (or so it says in WK?) their test fleet has to be up for a vote. Sorry can't remember what it's called.

You mean the Siva Mule? That is very wierd. Siva also made the car that John Pertwee drove IIRC.

This one's a bit different:
www.minimarcos.org.uk/altpics/cott.html

Actually there seems to be quite a lot of oddities on that site.

Cheers,

The Banham Bat has to be pretty high on the list IMHO.

My missus likes that car.

(I'd say she had poor taste, but she loves me)

I didn't say I don't like it. Just that it's weird.

And you've just proven that your missus has odd taste.

Surely the Stimson Scorcher!!

I saw one at Stoneleigh in the 80s and then one 'in the wild' on holiday in Cornwall a couple of years ago. It had a panel covering the engine. The best bit about the Scorcher was the hole in the body between your thighs you had to reach into to change gear!!

I'll vote for the wooden car featured in the free issue of KitCar I received (a couple of months back). Fair Play to the guy for building a car from scratch though.

IMHO one of the weirdest looking range of kit cars (& ugliest) are the entire Onyx range!

Hmmm, I thought I'd stumbled on the FBS Census prototypes page for a minute there.

No he didn't design them, but I think they are trying to emulate him!

I think that the Census looks gorgeous compared to these. Well ok then, maybe not gorgeous, but at least well proportioned and almost handsome

Personally, and design & styling are such personal things, I can't believe FBS EVER thought that the Census was the best they could do.

The bit where the soft top meets the rear deck is so bad I almost feel like crying. I might be biased, but I would have paid Richard Oakes to style it.

Another vote for the Onyx, esp. the FastCat. After seeing them in the magazines, I thought that perhaps they just don't photograph very well. However, after seeing them at Exeter I can confirm they are definately on the ugly side of wierd. Supposed to go well though.

Quite like the Banham bat though. Well, all apart from the grill.

not exactly a kit car but I used to live next door to a bloke who made a motor bike with a range rover engine in it. And him and a mate put a chieftain tank engine in a transit van

From the side the silver Census on their website looks like the front melted and drooped.

But for me it has to be the Fastcat. There are so many 'afterthought bulges' all over it and the rear end is about as slab looking as an MFI sliding wardrobe door. And this is supposed to be the 'new and improved' model.
