Auto Kit car plans?
Discussion
Hi im new to the place, but i have a friend who comes on here allot who owns a kit car.
I go to donnington allot and always to the kit car show. I carnt drive mannual cars, and i desperatly want a automatic kit.
Ive plugged my mate for ideas,my main idea is to use an auto V8 in a dax rush.. My other idea of an auto car that will be allong the same lines as mannual cars is to introduce a 5/6 speed sequential rocket gearbox, but am abit put off by the £2595 price tag.
has anyone got any ideas or knows of people who have created a fast auto kit?!
cheers dan

Welcome on board.
If you’re interested in a Cobra, there are some real bargains to be had for you!
Loads of people put Rover V8 Auto’s into Sumos ‘cos they couldn’t find manual’s.
They trade for a lot less dosh ‘cos auto’s and Cobras don’t mix for many folk.
Good news for you, unless you want to build it yourself in which case it’s generally easier. No clutch. Simpler fit of gearstick. Radiator with oil cooler might be expensive though

Phantom produce both Auto and Manual cars, the factory demo is an automatic so you would even get a test drive!
Anyone on here built one of these? Are they really as fantastic looking in the flesh as they are on the photos?

GTM - very nice, well build cars that many on this site and others would recommend:
www.gtmcars.co.uk
Pilgrim - cheaper end of Cobra market, ditto the above:
www.pilgrimcars.com
Phantom - phoarrrr! Now that's nice. Aprisa is building one. He's best person for details on that:
www.phantom.uk.com
If you look on:
www.madabout-kitcars.com/kitcar/kit_cars_manu_list.php
There is a full list of manufacturers including websites and what cars they produce.
Hope this helps.

GTM have moved to a posh '.COM' address. Would have been nice if the old link redirected though!

Aprisa is building one at the moment - lucky bugger! And yes, they really are as fantastic looking in the flesh as they are in the photos. Quality and attention to detail is superb. With another 50bhp over the original Honda powered car, the new 3-litre Duratec version should be a belter.
I know of someone who was / is building a phantom (has come to a halt whilst he's working away), but there's some pictures on:
www.kitkat.bun.com/gtr/
whilst your there, have a look at: www.kitkat.bun.com it's the finest, most informative, and most honest tiger cat build site I've come across.
