Anyone know any decent places to get bits and bobs of Ali Alloy sheet from? I'm knocking together a new number plate plinth so don't need huge amounts. I guess 20 or 22SWG would be fine?

Cheers,
Rob

This may seem silly, but the best place I've found for little bits and pieces is our local B&Q. The on-line stockists are much cheaper if you're after larger quantities. If you get really desperate Demon Twits will sell you small sheets by mail order - for a price.

If you've got any engineering firms locally, nip in and ask. From what I gather the size you're after would more than likely go in the scrap bin of many manufacturing companies.

Cheers Guys,

I've managed to order some from Merlin Motorsports cut to the sizes I need. A rather awkward 570x110 and 600x20. I'm hoping that if it all goes together correctly I'll be able to sell it as part of a GJOB kit so then I'll be buying bigger sheets of ali for hopefully less

Cheers,
Rob

Yep. Take a look through Yellow Pages for sheet metal workers. Like Ex-Biker says, you can often get fair size bits from their scrap bin - but always ask first! If you bung one of the chaps a couple of quid he'll probably cut it to size if you ask.
