Hello everyone, I think this is my third post so be gentle with me!!
Those of you who attended the Exeter Show, did you find out any gossip about manufacturers, cars etc, you could fill me in on? I'm compiling some news pages for Kit Car magazine and although I'll be writing about what went on at the show, it's always nice to put a few fruity stories in just to make it more interesting. I just thought this was the place for gossip. Can you help?
Other than that, I had a whale of a time - my daughter loved it, too!
I think this forum's great, I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you. I met Ex Biker at the show and after for a few jars. I couldn't keep up with him in his MR2 but then again I had 400 issues of Kit Car in the back of my car so I'll lay the blame for my poor acceleration on Kitcarman!
Speak to you all soon

Hello Adam,
Enjoyable show, which is usually my experience of Exeter. Twas nice to meet you too.
'Fraid I can't come up with any news items for you though. Don't suppose a piccie of George (Reid?) kipping on a show stand is of any use or interest to you?
You might want to comment on the quality of the Dino-like 'kit' that was on display at the show. That sort of thing will give the kit car industry a very bad name, which it has worked hard for years to get rid of! It would be a bit inaccurate to describe the metalwork as a 'chassis' - one attendee thought that his farm gates are more sturdy than that piece of meccano!
As for the forum, it does have gossip indeed, and I only pop in from time to time. If you can keep the ratio of words-to-smileys at a sensible level, that's how I like to see it!!!
Regards,
John Rutter (aka Rut the Nut)

Adam, you found your way back home then.
Nice to meet you at the show.
Read you article on Auto Effects. Very nice feature.
Does this thread mean you are going to be writing about bendy chassis' and suspension mounts made from chewing gum?
And before everyone thinks it, I'm not talking about my car.

Cheers guys. I will be doing something on the Dino kit thing but it needs some carefull wording at this stage untill we know the full story of the design and make sure we don't end up with egg on our faces
However, from first impressions it looks a bit of a joke but the guy seems really proud of it and we'll just have to wait and see how this one pans out. But I know what I'd do with it

Hmmm, are you sure your not Den in disguise??????
Well, perhaps not, you've not used 250 emoticons.
Welcome to the forum Adam.....

Yoiks, what's this about a dodgy Dino kit? I've been interested in doing something Dino wise once I'm rich (ha!) Can you tell me the company? was it these guys:

Now, if it's a REAL Ultima you're after

Noooooooooooooo! Please don't start more petty sniping between magazines, we're sick of it (well I am and I know from previous threads I'm not alone). Just when we thought we'd seen the last of it. Positive contributions only please
Otherwise, welcome!

OOPS - nasty web site.
Bad images, bad choice of colours and poor proportioning to say the least. And the pricelist is all POA !
Wasn't there a classic replicas who made a cobra-u-like?
Yes there was, but they’re not connected.
It’s a good job that it’s not my job to write about either.
Both look decidedly in my humble opinion.

BTW Have you noticed that I'm getting better?
Yes, Mate.
Well done and keep taking the tablets. Failing that pass them around and we'll take them. That way we wont care about anything.
So when will you be publishing your memoirs in a kiss and tell stylee, naming and shaming all of this? Probably too late for Christmas this year but there is always next year

No, I don’t think I’ll bother. Anyway I thought I’d published it all anyway courtesy of PetrolTed (thanks mate!)
I’m all chilled-out now, and am looking positively towards “Racing Ahead in 2004”

email me if you want a couple of pics of said Dino rep.
It's a shame really. I liked the car, but I have heard these comments from quite a few people.
I know what else you can write about. How about the lack of outside lighting. Only car in the car park and still couldn't see it.

Would be nice to see a feature about the things people do with their kits. There's a chap with a Westfield that drove it to Spain and back (see boardroom in www.wscc.co.uk) and I heard recently about a chap and his wife driving to Moscow in a kit, don't know which one.
There's lots of people racing them but I'm sure there are a variety of people doing insane things that you wouldn't want to do in a tin top let alone a kit.
How about a piece on Duncan Cowper from Dax ? He's beaten a number of single seaters in his Rush this last season, some of them costing 3x or 4x what the Rush cost and with some well known drivers, nothing too flashy, just proof that a kit can still beat the posh stuff.
How about a performance shoot out, lap times round a curcuit, 0-100 times etc, all good entertaining stuff and a good laugh. Dyno shoot out, don't know if the one mentioned a few weeks ago will go ahead but that's always interesting.
Just a few ideas.

Hmmm, now what am I supposed to aimlessly dream about?!!!

The chances are that this mob will tidy their act and sort out their chassis. It’s a general problem with putting prototypes on show. In this case I think they’ll live to regret it, but they might take the criticism constructively and make a worthy replica. It wouldn’t take much.

Hi Chris N! Don't worry I'm not going to stir up some old news, heaven forbid
Sorry if it wound you up mate. Did you go to the Exeter Show? Tell me what you found interesting. I'm not desperately seeking ideas but I would like to find out more from those who buy the kits - what did you like at the show, what didn't you like, etc.
Let me know
