One useless bit of info you might like to know. I sold my Ginetta to David Garthwaite - No 44, the car is for sale at £7000, it is well worth the money. The car was on the 750mc stand at the Autosport Show.

how much will a good road going locost cost me and whats the average race budget for a years racing?

You can get a good spec. road going car from anything from 3K upwards. A 5K car should be pretty similar to a Westie. A years racing will cost around 5K for the car and probably the same again for a year's racing allowing for some failures/damage.
