It looks like a VW based kit car that was around in the late 70s early 80s.

Yep - that's a Nova. VW based kit car, as detailed by Rich.

Welcome to PH - the fountain of wisdom!

That is a Nova but there are a number of variants such as the Eagle etc. You can get them today for a couple of k and they are pretty cool. Makes sure wyou get one with the electrically operated roof, as they are most entertaining. Good source of info is

It was the star of Hardcastle and McCormack if anyone remembers that series from the 80's.

The name NOVA written on the front might be some kind of clue!

A blind one?

Probably the worst kit car I've ever had the misfortune to see.

Coyote was based on a Yank kit of the McLaren M6.

Butchered it in my opinion.

The Nova was actually in Condorman, starring Michael Crawford iirc. The Coyote was a much better looking car.

All this talk of ugly Novas had me searching my hard disc for a couple of photos. I've put them on the web at www.geocities.com/ferg_ranson/nova
Enjoy!!!

Yes, plus, as basil brush said Condorman. And Death Race 2000.

One of the best looking original kit car designs ever, though some pirate versions weren't as good as the original because the roof line was all wrong.
