It's very nice, but....(and I know this might upset some Cobra people) why hark back like that when you could spend the money on an Ultima and REALLY turn heads? Just imagine the cash you could have to lavish on that lovely Ultima chassis!!!
Maybe I'm in the minority, but the car industry (kit included) should be moving onwards. I appreciate that the Seven is difficult to improve upon and is cheap and cheerful, but we at least need SOME original designs. The much acclaimed Toniq-R is a cosmetic restyle of a 1950s sportscar, big deal
XTR2 and MK GT1 are certainly a move forward, but they're definately track orientated.
When I tell people I own a kitcar they inevitably assume it's a 7-alike.
We wouldn't have TVRs like we have today if they'd been too lazy and gone down a replica route. Where will the next 'TVR' come from, FBS failed, Strathcarron failed, Marcos clinging on, Invicta perhaps?
The UK has always had the most exciting 'specialist car' industry, but we're in danger of heading down a dead-end, aren't we??

I don't think the UK kit car industry is in danger of that just yet. Doing a simple search on madabout listing all current original design cars brings back 44 different models, there should be something there that caters for most peoples tastes.

I understand what you are saying though but to introduce a completely new, fresh and original car onto the kit car scene not only takes a great deal of time and effort but also a huge amount of money combined with tremendous skill to actually pull the finished article off. Not suprisingly the bit that is generally lacking is the huge amount of money bit. A much simpler path is to go down the replica route which is why there are so many - it's cheap, tried and tested.

As for the new Ford GT, I think it rocks and I want one. It's bang up to date, looks surperb and drives even better apparently.

They should give the Cobra the same treatment.

Cheers, John
