Many years ago I read about a ploy practiced by "Colonel" Tom Parker, manager of Elvis Presley, before he met "The King"...
Apparently, he used to be a "hustler" on the fairground, and he used to have a tent with a freak show inside which he charged a dollar to see.
One day, business was slack, so he hit on the idea of putting a big notice up saying "Admission 2 dollars, and half your money back, if you don't think it was worth the entrance money"
Well, the "punters" were queuing round the block cos' they thought they were getting a bargain, so you could adapt this to your mag.....
Increase the cover price to £6.80, with a promise that the "mugs" errm, I mean readers can have half their money back if they didn't think it was a good "read", then bank on the fact that half the dissatisfied customers couldn't be bothered to return the product, you would be quid's in......
