Has anyone made this Dino Replica?
Discussion
I believe this is the JH Classics DGT reincarnated.

So plenty of them previously built under the various names that it has been called in the past.

A mate built the Jh classics car with the 2ltr Lancia in the back.He hated the fact he had to buy some Lada front brake calipers and swore continually about it,until he got them and realised how well made they were!!!.He then proceeded to fit the roll over/ strengthening bars in the finished car and then converted it to a 'Targa'top. Then took it down to Goodwood for a blast, blew the engine and it's resting in his garage for the last 6 years looking a mess.Shame as it was a real poseurs car and even with the 4 pot sounded good with the Janspeed exhaust.
Now Den, you can't go around leaving things hanging like that!!!
It's highly unlikely that I'll be building anything for ages anyway due to lack of space/time/money (joy!) but if I did go for a Dino then my thoughts were more along the lines of having Banks in Southport knock up one of their nice Lotus Europa chassis with associated gubbins (minor items like wheels and engine) and then simply source the body shell and interior fittngs from said kit manufacturer and stick it all together - easy
I've been highly inspired by this thread and the guy that fitted a dino shell onto a Europa chassis years ago.
BTW anyone know how heavy the Alfa V6 is? Is it an alloy block or pig iron? The all up weight given for the kit is 1080kg which is a bit chunky in my books even with a 240bhp V6 in the back.
Cheers,
Rob

Rob,
The problem with Dino replicas is that they’ve a terrible reputation for leaving customers high and dry and financially stung.
With this in mind, my advice is not to pay for anything you can’t feel and see. Even then be careful to ensure it’s yours. I heard of one car being built on a stage payment basis. The customer paid in stages, as requested, inspecting the work as he went and was happy. Until near the end he paid an unexpected visit to the manufacturer.
The car was painted the wrong colour! Turned out that this car had half a dozen customers, all paying in stages. When the customers complained the car vanished, the premises closed and the gnashing of teeth commenced. The perpetrators got away with a hundred grand.
However, your plan to simply source the body knowing (or accepting) that you’d be left to your own devices is safe. Get together a list of the essentials you want. Don’t pay more than about 5% deposit and make clear that you won’t pay for anything until everything is ready for collection. Then make certain you hold to it.
I think your proposed plan is bold. Good luck!
Den.

The second photo in that classickitcars link is actually a real Ferrari Dino. I know this because I used to have that very picture as my Windows background in about 1995!
yep I've come across a few copies of that one during web research.

I am notoriously difficult to replicate!
Yes but how much do you cost to build and how much power?!!
It's about time the company sent me some info in the mail, been over a week since I requesed some, not a great sign for normal businesses, perhaps acceptable kit-car manufacturer practice though
Rob,
I believe jgmadkit is correct in saying it's a reincarnation of the DGT.
I have a DGT replica, I also have the Chassis jigs and moulds. The 246GT pictured looks a dead ringer... with a couple of mods (? enhancements)
Although technically these cars are a 206, having a wheel base of 2280mm, a 246 should measure 2340mm.
Anyway heed the advise of others C.O.D.
Anybody know a good (cheap) source of 246 replica lights?
Brett
