A couple of days ago a chap called Si posted a new thread on the Cobra Club forum saying that he was the first customer for a Python chassis. In a later post he snidely IMHO said that the existence of his chassis was at odds with ‘reports’ he’d read.

I responded with a question as to “where” these reports were to be found.

Typical Den Tanner battle ensued

Found out this evening that Si has the only web-site devoted to the Monty Python.

www.cobra535.co.uk/

It’s professional too! What’s more both Si’s site and his postings have the unmistakable style of Fibs trying to write as if he’s 30 years younger than he is. Various of Fibs hallmark expressions crop up (mildly amusing for example) too!

If you want a laugh at Monty Python visit the link below.

www.cobraclub.com/crcforum/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=6&topic_id=24395&mesg_id=24395&page=&topic_page=1

Seems like desperate measures are employed to ‘talk-up’ sales.

Any thoughts?

Den.

Den, me old china, you sure now how to win friends and influence people.

When Monty Python said "is this the right room for an argument?" it was a comedy skit not a self help programme!

Still made fun reading.

Den, careful there you were doing so well. It took a while to read all those posts but it seemed as though you'd accepted Si's identity, why change your opinion because he's the only one to have a website?

I know of two people that are building websites devoted to their kits and expect them to look professional too, doesn't mean that they are trying to drum up sales for that manufacturer or even get a discount.

I've been known to use the phrase mildly amused, does that mean I'm not actually Pete B but I'm Pete F?

I'm off to do some investigation and will return (assuming Ted doesn't bin this thread first).

Look at what’s printed on P105 of the mag I sent you. I assert there’s no price list, no brochure, no manual and no car. Most importantly - no credibility.

Si, who’s been ‘lurking around’ the Cobra forum buys one in the knowledge of what’s printed in Kit Car. What’s more it seems strange to me that Simple or Simon didn’t so much as enquire of the forum. He then posts a ‘told you so’ message on the Cobra forum.
How plausible is all that
Frankly I’d been thinking that there was something odd but didn’t want to upset the rest of the forum by asking arkward or accusing questions. However, when I saw his web site and re-read his postings I saw a certain character and style oozing out of every line.

Come on Mr Neautralist. This has all the Hallmarks of a professional site. Right down to the fact that whoever created it had access to the very same photographs as are used in the ‘RV Dynamics’ adverts. There’s a kind of ‘third party’ detachedness in the writing too. None of the individual excitement, but loads of corporate ‘direction’.

PetrolTed. Please don’t chop this thread. If it transpires that my hunch is right it will vindicate much of what’s been said in the past two months.

I’m waiting with baited breath to see what Si has to say.

Den.

What are you going to do if during this investigation you discover that you are in fact Pete F ?

Do you think that PetrolTed will will exclude you or invite you to BTaP?

Come to think of it.....neutral.... Devils Advocate. . .you've got me wondering.

And I was thinking we're all friends here

Den

While some think you are a God I think you've made yourself look a spastic.

If PF is 'Si' he will get found out as the truth will avail. Get out of 60's US paranoia thinking there's a red (PF) in every bed!!!

Now off this forum, & off Cobra Club as you've ruined them both for me.

As for building cars and having a 'professional website'???? So ing what????

Go and have a word with Stig on the Ultima forum and eat humble pie.

Now off!

Skid

(the same guy who was very polite and up front with you on CC, asking you to control yourself and join in the banter with care as you had only just joined)

Ted, sorry!

Hang on a sec.... whilst I appreciate what you say Skid, nobody "owns" either this forum, or the Cobra Club one.... so unless you are a moderator, what gives you the right to tell another user not to contribute?

KCM may have ruined it for you, but obviously not for others, including those who can take the decision to ban entries from him.

This one had been discussed before.... nobody forces anyone to read every subject..... if you don't like the heading, don't bother reading it! There are several billion other web pages to go at.....

Skid,
Come on old chap. What’s your real problem? Are you afraid that I might actually be right?

There are two threads on this forum and one on the Cobra Club involving my spat with Fibs. Is it so hard to avoid them if it’s affecting your ticker?

You advised me to take a chill pill. Maybe some of your own medicine might be in order?

Live and let live, hey?

I said before, if I’m right this scandal will vindicate me, justify previous posts and will be jolly interesting to those who are following matters.

There are folk who would like to know the truth, I think.

Den

BTW I really don’t think I’ve disgraced myself in anything I’ve said on either forum.

Den the point is I don't bloody care!!!

As you say 'Live and let live'... so bl00dy do it yourself!!!!!!!!

You jump down anybodies throat re PF and are actively looking for anyone who might be masquerading as him.

You have too much time going through all these forums and all I ever come across is your own self publicity posts. Bloody hell, I just want to browse and enjoy not get the DT party political broadcast every other post.

For gods sake man give it a rest man.

Have you seen Stigs build site? Now tell me 535 is more official so must be a manufacturer. Maybe they are a fledging operation. So what.

Live and let live,

Goodbye.

Skid

(p.s. thanks for the mag, I enjoyed the articles though skipped any editorial because ...IM NOT BL00DY INTERESTED)

As a mod, I had better step in before someone's feathers get ruffled beyond repair

Den going off on his witchhunt again is a little bit mindbending, as he did seem to get the message about the vendetta thing. Also, the kit car forum here doesn't have that much traffic, so a big poster like Den may seem to take over.

However, Den may have had a right to be suspicious. Maybe Filby does operate in that way. It's just that it would be more readable if Den had done an ISP trace, found out who owned the Domain name etc. and seen if it all checked out behind the scenes. I am not a techie, but these things are apparently quite possible. Then it would have been a nice little expose, instead of Den going on his witchhunt again - taking all of us with him

As it is, the site could be genuine, and Den may have egg on his face. Remember that manufacturers like kit builders to set up websites, and will often let them use pics, with their permission.

Why so bitter? Your views seem to differ to most. Here's a few things that PetrolTed has said about Den's ranting.

Interesting thread - I don't have a problem with it.

I'm pretty bored of the Which Kit/Kit Car topic and have discussed it with KitCarMan and asked him to tone it down a bit.

That said, the kit car forum has sparked to life in the last few weeks as a result of some of these discussions so I am at least pleased about that.

Doesn't sound like the sort of person to tell to off! does it?

It's been said lots of times. . . If you don't like the title of the thread, don't read it!

BTW this is not meant to defend Den (he can do that himself) but just to show that some people enjoy reading the ranting.

thanks domster being the voice of reason

It's maddening when you just want to browse and enjoy posts and you keep coming across DT party political broadcasts.

CC has been most un-enjoyable since DT's been mail bombing anti PF propaganda averywhere. I'm sure he's a bad bad man but leave it to 'Trading Standards' if he's a law breaker. If not, quote DT, "live and let live"

Trust me it's not about choosing a non DT post to read as the stuff is multiplying everywhere. One new member on CC has virtually walked off in disgust. DT thinks he's PF, but for christ sake innocent 'til guilty surely?

When Den kicked off on CC I kindly asked him to lean back a bit and enjoy the forum and learn the banter as I felt he had a lot to offer. Battle unsued despite 'kitcarman' still being listed as the newest member. The ink on the login password wasn't even dry!!!!!!!!!

I fear DT will become a very sad lonely old man until he addresses his fixations.

I am a nice guy really, ask Stig... errr .... better not, I still owe him 20 quid!

Exbiker,

not bitter just frustrated. The plague of DT got advised here to cool off the vendetta stuff and just moved straight on to the Cobra Club. When you get 15 mins an evening to browse it's maddening when every other link feels like DT stuck in an anti PF snide. I genuienly fear for the mans sanity and suggested he get Counselling in 1 link. He went quiet for about a day.

>> Edited by skid on Thursday 9th October 16:46

All,

sorry if my first post seemed a bit extreme but there's been too much traffic before building up to this on the other forum and I just blew my stack when I came here to get away from it only to read DT boasting of 'doing battle' there and posting the link address. It wasn't a cold post, it was a hot seething mass of fury errupting in anger.

I'm going to sharpen my axe now.

A Cobra forum moderator did in fact make the checks to which you refer. The result was that Si’s ‘homepage’ wasn’t registered to Si. That seems odd in a sea of oddities.

I don’t think I shall end up with egg on my face, but I am allowed to make a fool of myself for your entertainment – am I ?

OK - for the technical.

The cobra535.co.uk is registered to an individual (A).
www.cobra535.co.uk is hosted on a multidomain server with a UK business ISP. It is unlikely that an individual would purchase webspace (although he may have purchased it for his "day job" company).

(A)'s name bears no relationship to "Si" (Simon I presume), Jim, Dave or Chris that are named on the site.

As I can't find a website for RV Dynamics I can't comment if that is related - but it would appear it is a "home" account from what I can tell.

There are two people (Philips and Vincent Wright) that live at the address given for RV Dynamics. Their names bear no relation to (A)

(A) seems to have no obvious connection to "RV Dynamics" that I can find.

RV Dynamics appear to be in Essex (they don't seem to have a website) - there is no-one living in Essex AFAIKS that has the name of (A). However, it is possible that (A) lives somewhere nearby (there are people named (A) that live around Essex).

Without anything else to go on, I'd say the whole thing was inconclusive - if someone would give me some web addresses for RV Dynamics (if they have any), or an email address for Si then I could go further.

yes Den you are, and so am I!

but please these forums are for fun and damn usefull when you need advice.

I asked you before, please drop any reference to PF. You have so much to offer without uttering his name.

If you have suspicions of illegal actions take them up with the appropriate authorities. Until then stop picking on any one who might be his aunts sisters cousins bastard love-childs dog.

You did leave here and plague CC, even as the newest member, and picked on 'Si' with no real evidence only suspicions. Are you the Witchfinder General? No, your Den. 'Si' gave details that his brother wrote the site and also linked us through to there own extreme sports site. Can't see PF doing 'air' on his snowboard can we?

I'm not gullable to everything as I sussed the Troll Koo on the Cerbera forum, ask Fourwheeldrift.

Anyway time to go now as only popped on for '5 mins' over an hour ago and nearly given myself a stroke in doing so!

Ah gotta go,.... Pete's snapped his fingers!

Skid...ding into a brick wall with this one I think.
