A few weeks ago I was at Dave Walker's place near Norwich having an Emerald ECU installed and mapped.

He suggested that I might like to get together a few like-minded souls for a 'Tuning Clinic'. Say half a dozen different kit cars on a Sunday, all turn up at his place, put the cars on the rolling road for a tune-up after which we can walk around muttering things like "Bloody dyno must be wrong, I'm making MUCH more than that at the wheels".

I've put the idea to Den Tanner (kitcarman) with a view to the day out appearing in a later issue of 'Kit Car' and he's interested "...provided someone else can organise it." (So that'll be me then eh, Den? Lazy bugger).

Would you be interested in coming along and what would you bring?

I'll come along, Dax Rush, Hayabusa normally aspirated, for the time being SVA'd in a couple of weeks. Should be 175bhp to 185bhp.

I could be interested depending on when. Car is a Dax Tojeiro with 3.5L SD1 Rover V8 plus a few tuning bits. In theory should produce 220 bhp at the flywheel according to Real Steel with the particular combination of cam/heads/manifold/carb. Would be interesting to see the reality!

Maybe it would warrant a write-up on PistonHeads if Kit Car aren't that bothered???

I’ll arrange for a journalist to be there!
It’s a great idea!
Having said this, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t appear on/in PistonHeads too!

I think it was peetbee who said we’re all friends here

Ok, looks like I misunderstood Den. Sorry

He must have meant for me to scout around (like this) and then he'll have the KC Ace Reporter with newly sharpened crayon along to record the oily bits.

I've noted those of you who are interested and tomorrow will have a chat with Dave Walker to see about his end of things.

After that it will just remain to pick a date when we can all be there.

Dont know Kev.l have the print out and thats what it says.mmmm let me look 165.9BHP at the rear wheels,152 pound/foot torque at 5200 rpm.I bought it from a guy who had just built it up with a 3000 mile engine.Standard westie exhaust but when funds allow a nice SBD carbon jobbie.

I used to own a large number of kit cars, however, following my breakdown I sold the entire content of the Pilgrim factory along with all my tools, cars and basically everything.
So, I don't have a kit car at the moment. I have a new design on the drawing board, but that won't test very well on a rolling road.
Having said all this, I'd be up for being at your tune up session in my BMW.
Den.

No Kit car? Just an exec's pimp mobile . . . . I bet it's either a 520, 525 or probably a diesel and less than 3 years old.

I know you're going to piss in my tin now, but it's just for fun.

Next guess is an M3 or M5 'cause you're all rich up there!

Actually I’ve been driving a C reg Volvo. Its MOT expired last week, so its off to the knackers yard with it.
My plan is to buy my wife a better BMW estate (touring?) so that I can have the one she’s got at the moment. It’s a 320i (six cyl), 1996 on an N plate and worth maybe £3,500.
Hardly pimp mobiles?

Sorry Den, I just assumed you'd have one, you've probably driven more than we've even imagined owning ! maybe you could come along anyway, the more the merrier and it's always good to meet people with a passion for cars, kits especially.

If Den's as shrewd a business man as he seems he should go down with you all to Dave walkers, and ask him if he wants to keep writing his technical tuning articles for kitcar now that ccc has packed in.

I spoke to Dave Walker today, he'll be chatting to Iain Ayre and Den to sort out the fiscal and other arrangements.

Let's see what happens.
