Did anyone see the program on BBC2 last night on caterham. Apparently they got into consultations with Reynard for a new caterham. went through all sorts of meetings and discussion groups. They finally decided, when the car was supposed to be launched whether it was going to be front or rear engined eventually after many discussions reynard went bust and the project was shelved becuase they didn't think it could replace the seven
just wondered if the guy from syla thought like this then we wouldn't have the mojo

That's at least the 2nd time that the BBC have repeated that programme, nice to know our licence fees are worthwhile!
There have been a couple of threads about the prgramme previously, but what I found interesting was the way that Caterham were very wary of repeating the 21. As a result they couldn't seem to decide on what to go for.
I like the Mojo, but even if it were a Caterham I'm don't believe it would sell as well as the 7 currently does.

I agree re the mojo caterham issue. They didn't feel and rightly so I think they would be able to release a seven replacement that looked like a seven or this is the gist I got
Yes they were very wary of that but also going head to head with the elise. The 21 looked remarkably like a stylus/fury/phoenix I thought correct me if i am wrong.

Caterham have recently resumed advertising in Kit Car. I reckon that if they put in some effort to explaining that their cars are only marginally more expensive than copies, whilst introducing a kit with a little more DIY and a little less already done (to bring down costs) they’d clean-up.
Surely it’s more logical to supply more of what you’re good at, than to play a wild card.
More especially when their last wild card (the 21) turned out to be a joker!

Caterham already do a 'kit in a box' and versions where you can supply major compnents such as engine & gearbox, but they don't seem to advertise the fact much these days. Although their website prices are split into factory build and self build sections.

I would like a Caterham, but due to my current financial position have settled for the Dutton! Sticking with a Pinto though as I'm not convinced about bike engines in cars, especially as the Dutton will end up as my daily driver. Bike engines aren't that cheap either, although I love the idea of a sequential box and such a high rev limit.
I haven't forgotten that I was going to forward a couple of pics to you to show the (lack of) progress I've made in my rebuild. I'll try and sort it tonight.

I know what you mean anout lack of progress mines not going too well either
about the bike engine it won't be my everyday vehicle for that i use a peugot 406 estate this would be for open roads on sundays and track days. Would like to look at doing a rear engine job but don't have the know how.
What do you think of the mojo is it the way forward rear engine rear wheel drive, front wheel drive donor etc might be worth keeping an eye on things
