HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE SPRINGS ON THE COIL OVER SHOCKERS (AVOS) SAFELY?

Get hold of some spring compressors. You can get them from most car shops for about 20 sheets.

By using a suitable coil spring compressor.

THE LONG SCREW TYPE ARE UNSUITABLE AND CAN BE DANGEROUS. THE SPRINGS ARE APPROX 3" DIA!

NO . NOT YET.I HAVE BOUGHT THEM BUT HAVE TO DO SOME MODS TO THE CHASSIS FIRST

You may have already tried this but wind the collars down first (are they adjustable?). You might find that there's no preload on the springs byt the time the collars are down to the end of the threads.
