How long to build yours?

I have decided to have a push on my Stylus (between bathroom projects).
Due to buisness & house moves ect. (including divorce)and the normal usual stuff really. I suddenly realised its taken maybe 3 to 4 years so far.
This was reinforced by the fact that some of the rubber had perished (track rod ends) on what was brand new parts.
The body looks like it needs a respray.
Still up early in the morning & forge ahead. Must be finished this year....

It'll take as long as it takes, good thing about building it yourself, no set time constraints.
I know a couple of people who built their Westfields in around 4 years.
Building it is all part of the fun/experience.
You should enjoy the build as much as you enjoy using it........so someone once told me.

Ah now Westfields are simple bolt on kits.
I took a year to complete mine.
No doors or body cutting out. No fiberglassing. And body was Gel coloured.
Only head ache was bits not fitting properly and running to Halfords for the bit that joins the other parts together that nowone told you about.
The manual at that time was about 2 pages.
Anyway just having a tea break back to work.

How long, my Striker to 9 weeks from collection to MoT and Le Mans 3 days later with no problems.....
Now my Stylus, that is another matter. Took two and a half years to get the SVA pass and she is now in bits again. Upgrades currently happening are engine, gearbox, brakes (huge), interior, flip front and a respray. Oh and a serious diet, the car weighed in at 645kg at the SVA and I have a target weight of 575kg.... so the carpet, seats, lights, etc, etc have all seen the bin.
Where are you based? I am in West Sussex.... let me know if I can help out at all.
What spec is you Stylus then? Mine will be 1800 zetec with Kent Cams, Raceline head and twin 45's. Should be about 180 - 190 hp.

Im in Southampton.
2.0l Zetec on Jenvy Injection & Emerald 3d Mapping otherwise standard. Engine was from my westfield has 176bhp.
Im just about to carpet now. Think I need to for SVA to smooth off the transmittion tunnel corners.
I am in Worthing, let m eknow if you need any help with anything..... You'll love the Stylus. Mine was all carpetted, but it is now stripped out. Not sure whether to re carpet or just have the panelled effect??

Wow I took 13 weeks to build my R1 Phoenix and I thought I was going some.
Jim, I hope to see you at Liphook again in a couple of weeks?? I was the guy discussing your front steering geometry last month!! Any news on the new bodywork for you car??

The new (Standard weight) body is awaiting collection up at STM Derby. The factory is closed until middle of next week after which date I will need to organise driving up and fitting. Might even put some paint on it then.
I'm planning to come to the next liphook meet looking forward to meeting all you guys again.
Love the drive over from Horsham even if it causes a few airbourne momenets.

I've never contributed on this forum before, but I'm about to graduate from an Engineering degree and would love to try my hand at building a car.
There is a monthly meeting in Liphook for the Sylva Sportscar Register, of which Jim and I are members! Other like minded a welcome - 3rd Thursday of month at the Links pub.
