I am settin up the timming on my car at the weekend (all have to start somewhere

i just wondered if i use the timing settings in the book...

Or, do i need to retard them slightly, because leaded petrol is no longer with us?

If the anser is yep, retard it, how much is normal?

Cheers

Wouldn't the timing settings in the book work fine with LRP? I've run a few old cars on it without having to retime them, admittedly it's more expensive than unleaded and if you've gone to the expense of an unleaded head conversion then feel free to ignore me

Standard settings should be fine. I run my 2.8 Capri on unleaded with additive (didn't seem to like LRP). Did sometimes experience knocking at full load, so now trying additive with octane boost. Haven't done enough miles to give definite answer, but no problem so far.

I use aditive + unleaded, but i was thinking more about the octane differance...

Ended up going with the original and using optimax.
