I have a couple of questions regarding Locost cars.
It seems that they are generally pretty cheap and the insurance doesn't look too bad either.
What I want to know really is whether it is feasible to run one of these as an everyday car. (providing of course I get the weather protection tonneau, doors etc etc.)
How about in winter - is there a heater in the dinky little fun machines?
I'm about to graduate and want to get something different and have a few shares lying around. I just need to have something more fun than a 1 litre 205!

right mate, you can get locosts from 2k, if you go to 4k you can get fine examples with heaters, weather gear, and even stereos...insurance is on a classic policy and is bloody cheap & they are very easy to maintain - search findit.co.uk - there are people on here who know much more than me though!

I dont know much about Locosts but i do drive a dax rush everyday.
Is it feasible to run one everyday??? Well the answer is yes (depending on your attitude to life) if you dont mind getting wet when it rains you'll have tons of fun. I have had the car almost a year now, i did get a bit fed up during long periods of wet weather, but cold dry days are just as good as warm summer days (better actually cos the car goes faster!!).
Basically if you can put up with the lack of storage space, the damp right arm, leg and buttock, and people talking to you everywhere you go then you'll love it. (i still love it but I live in a city and i walk most places when its raining!!)

P.s i forgot to mention the cheap insurance for young drivers. an example: me aged 24, no ncb, no crashes, clean licence for 7 years.

I've had my xflow powered westfield for a week.
The issues with driving it everyday as far as I have found so far are...
If it rains the footwells fill up if I leave the car outside. I'm going to track down the leak hopefully this w/e as I believe the water isn't coming through the hood or side screen but through either the screen mounting holes, windscreen wiper mounting holes or somewhere else in the scuttle (pedal box maybe). If I can't fix it I'm taking the footwell carpets out and cutting some drain holes and fitting bungs in them
The tank range appears to be only 60 miles. I can only get 15 litres in it at a time so I suspect that my guage is way off and hopefully my tank has a capacity of 30 litres so I will have a more usable range of 120 miles.
Everything else is down to whether or not you can handle the 7-esque experience on a day to day basis I expect. Great fun but bloody wearing if you have any motorways to use.

Edited to add: 160 quid fully comp for 3000 miles rising to 190 quid for 6000 miles. I'm 34, live in the sticks and don't park it in a garage. I paid 4900 for my car - see profile for details.

I dont have a garage for the car either. my car doesn't leak into the footwells from underneath but it does get wet from the top theought the bonnet vents when parked in the rain (found out when i returned to the car / bathtub after a couple of days in the rain). i have since bought a fitted waterproof cover for it from specialised car covers, expensive but well worth it!!
