UK kitcars in France??

I'm in the process of selling a Q registered (properly registered in 1990 so pre SVA) kitcar to a guy in France. Anybody have any experience of this,the French guy is very keen and has approached the correct authorities but doesn't the car have to comply with French "rules",engineers report etc which can become extremely expensive before the "carte grise" can be issued. Are there any official forms I need to get??

Thanks for that - he says he's also got a Spanish passport so it looks like that be the best way......
