Hi, I've been asked about this kit car but it's not one I've ever heard of.
Apparently it dates from 1991 (don't know if that's the build date or the year of manufacture) looks a lot like a Morgan with wire wheels and a 2 litre engine.
Does anyone know anymore about these cars, such as the donor etc?
Any info much appreciated!

I remember the "Squire" which seemed to change hands a lot around the late 80s. The makers liked to think it was a bit better than the other trad. offerings of the time I think....

Thanks Ferg, apparently it had a 2 litre Alfa Romeo engine in it and despite standing for several years manage to sell for £4500 at auction today. Well out of my friend's budget anyway!

The Kennedy squire was a replica of the 1935 Squire. It was slightly longer and wider. Hand built on an ash frame in all aluminium with a polished stainless radiator. Most had an Alfa Romeo 105 twin cam engine and 5spd gearbox. The rest of the running gear is English axle, like a lotus elan and ford cortina mk3 suspension, brakes with MGC wire wheels.

The replicas were built by Phil Kennedy who sold the business to vicarage (now famous for thier jaguars, they still have the squire motors sign on their wall)

As they were built to order each of the 12 completed vehicles is slightly different. Some had leather bound dashboards, some aluminium, most I have seen had Jaguar mk2 dials and switches with 30s period horn buttons and 50s indicator switches

They were all high quality trimmed in leather and Wilton carpets, double duck hoods, tonneau and side screens. Most were built as replicas including four spoke steering wheels and forward opening doors. Very late ones had changes in line Morgan’s from the 90s.

There is an early one on display at the Lincoln aviation museum.

Hi.
In my younger days I sold cars at a central London Austin Rover dealer, and we sold Kennedy Squires for Phil Kennedy. Although I don’t remember selling any, I drove around for a while in a red Squire with Escort XR3i engine, tan leather and wood interior and chrome wire wheels. I even drove it through London to work the morning after the big storm inNovember 1987. After that, most cars seemed to be fitted with Alfa Romeo engines, to my memory. I loved it, and luckily it had a little heater in the passenger footwell and side screens to make the winter more bearable.
