Exporting a build kitcar to Germany or Holland
Discussion
For Holland talk to the people at the RDW (www.rdw.nl) about what you must do to get the car registered for use on the road.
It may need to undergo a specific dutch approval session again, although the UK SVA should take care of most of the basic parts.
Remember that a dutchman is not allowed to drive a foreign-registered car in Holland, so you will either need to have a UK resident bring the car over or pick it up using a trailer.
Once the car is at your house can you request a day-permit and license plates to get to the approval appointment at the RDW location.
Once it's approved you can buy new license plates, pay the road tax, get insurance and drive it on the road.
Bye, Arno.

I'm sure there is someone else on here that knows more than me, but the German TUV (equals MOT) is very tough and needed for 'turnkey' cars. Alot of kit car manufacturers don't sell in Germany because of this. Some of the Cobra boys have approval, and the cars get built and sent over.
It would be worth investigating it. Maybe talk to one of the manufacturers that does (I think DAX do).

Thanks!
I am still dealing with the RDW. The problem is they ar quit vague! The don't give a straight answer.
The problem is that the car i want to buy is on carbs and it is from 95. In Germany they reject cars from that age if they don't have fuel injection.
What if the car was registered already in the UK and has SVA.
I was told that a country that is a member of the EU is not allowed to reject cars from other members.

For type-approved cars: absolutely true.
For SVA'd cars: not so sure if that's true.
I don't think the SVA system is the same (and has the same rules) in every EU country, so they can't say that approval in one country is valid for all others.
Things which are often different are: noise levels, emission levels, brake peformance, handling tests, etc.
Bye, Arno.
