Kitcar Like a C / D Type ?
Discussion
I've had loads of kitcars over the years -most recently a Seight - I would like a Jaguar C or D type replica but I can't justify the £50k+
What's a similar kit that I should search for ?
Front engine, RWD with ideally a 6 or 8 cylinder engine - must be a driver's car not a cruiser
I don't want a cobra nor a re-bodied Z3, I thought about buying another Griffith but I prefer the look of older cars
Thanks

Yes - the Z3 isn't a great drivers car and I find it's engines dull too KTMsm said:

The 1.9 is crap; the 6 cylinder engines are brilliant. Mine handles better than most things on the road & I actually prefer it to my 911.
I find them unexciting I've had 328, 330, 330 supercharged and currently have a 325Ti as everyone said they were more fun - still doesn't do it for me
I think more aggressive cams and a lightweight flywheel might transform them but I'm unwilling to gamble £1k in case it doesn't

this does not look bad eighter, you can give it a bigger engine swap, a lot engines in the UK are cheap.

£27k for a Ford Cortina based kit that I'd assume needs an IVA - he's on drugs !https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1686312

That's one of the £50k cars that I can't justify - particularly when my dad used to buy and sell them for around half thatBluevanman said:

Looks to be correctly registered for the time so no iva required KTMsm said:

Champagne tastes with fizzy pop budget expectationsThis also might not be his thing but at least it's not a nasty rip off of something which it's never going remotely emulate
Having said that, I had experience of a Cortina based Cobra in the 90s and it was actually a very decent car compared to the some Jag/Rover based ones simply because it was light with a decent chassis.
The only thing the OP is stating is he prefers the look of older cars and there's still some older cars which are cheap for what they offer.
Triumph TR6s are amazing value with great ones about for low £20s but the reason they're cheap is because there's loads of them (mostly red).
Here's an another direction with a bit more styling finesse than the TVRs of the same era but he'd have to hunt out a wooden chassis car to get the experience the designer intended. Quite a wide range of engine options, when they come up for sale are usually below £30K
Thanks but a Marcos doesn't do it for me either
I want the old-fashioned looks with a decent engine
The MEV replicar, formosa etc are available at sensible prices - I don't see why adding a £2K engine should add 25k to the price
I'm happy to modify, finish building or wait. I just need to know what to search for and I'm sure there's more options out there
