Hi all,

I have a bad habit of browsing race car ads, and am always amazed at how much car you can get for your money. The main caveat being that they are not road legal, so not very useable. Ginetta G50's in GT4 spec often pop up for not too much money, and I am wondering how realistic it is to get it road legal. I have 2 Sylva kit cars, and just based on that I can't see many issues for a G50 to pass an IVA. I also remember the Formula Ford with a 1.0 EcoBoost that was converted for "street" use as a promotion and that Chris Harris drove.

I am based in Europe, and a road legal G50 would look like a great car for the Touristenfahrten at the Ring.

(and yes, I realise getting an actual race car won't be pleasant on the road, but it would be very cool and to do Touristenfahrten, the car has to be road legal!)

Its going to be eminently doable. Just a question of time and money. I've just successfully IVA'd a car that I originally built for racing.

Off the top of my head, the following all needed work:
- Lights incl wiring changes (lights were too low, fog light marking, on/off rules for example)
- Handbrake install
- Low brake reservoir warning
- Passenger seat and belts
- Fuel tank cap tether
- New dashboard
- Wheel/tyre change
- New exhaust with proper catalytic converters
- Remap

TBH, I don't know why I'm listing it here, see: https://kitnet.uk/community/threads/iva-prep-threa...

What about glass on a closed car?

If you look on the Ginetta website you will find that they are now offering a road-legal version of the G55.

Was ~ £65K + VAT a few years ago so I'd imagine you're looking at low 6-figures these days. It'll be a G56 probably.

Cracking track cars but having driving one hard on track I'd not want one as a road car.

do you plan a british homologation or a EU (e.g. German, French, Spanish) one?
