Speedo calibration pre iva
Discussion
Hi All, can anyone point me in the right direction for speedo calibration prior to iva. We're pretty confident that we set correctly but obviously need the certificate. No in addition we're are rear wheel driven, an dour sensor is front wheel mounted. Anyone been in the same position?
Is there anyone midlands based that would test and give a certificate prior?
Thanks
Mark

OP noted the speed sensor is on the front wheel, which can’t be tested at IVA because their test kit isn’t self powered…hence the need for certification of calibration…
The only place you are likely to get something that the examiner will be happy with is from the kit manufacturer I think.
If that’s an issue, honestly, just move the sensor to a back wheel, diff or gearbox output.

I believe you can do the calculations and print them out to supply to the tester.
So, your calc will be rolling radius of the wheel which you should be able to get from the tyre manufacturer (get a printout) which will give you circumference divided into a mile. Number of pulses per revolution. etc ending with the calculated pulses per minute that you set in the speedo.
With that data in hand you show the tester that you have used the correct pulse count on the speedo.
Not done it myself but that is my understanding of the line in the manual section 17 starting 'Where the speed of the vehicle cannot be measured...'
Show all your workings out.
