What about such lovely small (short) and very light, with big V8 als the Bill Thomas Cheetah, but better, wider, the Cheetah Evolution.

Wonder how such drives :-) most have V8, but you can also get then with V10 or V12.

This example I like a lot, its one with a LS9 V8 and a great color, you almost sit on the rear axle, and ow, Gullwing doors.

this one looks even a bit comfy.

How will such Evo Cheetah drive, must be great ( a bit scary) fun.

That particular example uses a GM Performance crate LS9 supercharged engine producing 638hp and lots of torque. I can't find its weight but probably around 1000kg, maybe less.

You're getting into very interesting territory at this power and torque/mass ratios. We run a track car with just over 500 hp/tonne and it's a bloody handful. Will wheelspin both rear wheels at 120mph on a wet track. Probably set equivalent or quicker laps times with 'only' 400hp/tonne. Driving the monster on road would be too stressful.

Too much power and torque is great fun but comes with challenges (alias problems).

The engine in the Cheetah is set so far back that the tail of the gearbox is connected directly to the diff with no propshaft, coupled with the exhaust headers passing above the legs of the driver, things were pretty hot in the cockpit!

I can’t see how they even remotely manage the cooling requirements of an engine that size and power in that body.

It’s not attractive is it? That exhaust looks as though it might be a bit loud.

I think it looks fricking awesome personally.

Interesting background to the original too: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Thomas_Cheeta...

Always liked these - must be absolutely mad to drive; a lot of fun but you'll need some balls!

looks totally cartoonish and the exhaust looks like it would trigger half of PH - I'd call that a win double (sadly being to old and fat, not to mention lacking the requisite talent the Cheetah would be out for me)

yeah I guess so :-) like sitting on some explosive device that will go of, if you dare to push the pedal to hard.
Its a bit scary I guess, although those wider evo cheetah's seem to be less scary then the originals, but still.

Its not a every day car, but I guess more practical then a open Cobra, not that it is practical and a Cobra has a bigger boot, anyhow, both are a bit for scare yourself a bit driving, without pushing it to the limit or max rev range, so... I guess could be fun.

Also read somewhere that its not bad on a track (if you have big balls)

The old Cheetah was around 700kg, I guess the newer and wider Evo type (with luxes like aircon) is around 850kg or so I guess?

see some info also here, it seems those were 125k dollars, not to bad.

I had one of those as well long long time ago, but all those old toys were thrown away or given away long time ago when my parents and us kids moved to another house.

but... I bought a new one a year or 2 ago, a aluminium one in 1/43, looked so lovely and rare, I just wanted it and bought it.

just like this one, but better looking >

I think that looks brilliant. Saw an original Cheetah at last year’s FoS. Looked fantastic and staggeringly noisy.
This would be great fun but not something to be taken too seriously. As above, not really sure it needed supercharging, but then why not.
Thanks for posting

indeed, crazy nuts power :-) 400-600 in such light car would be more then enough to get scared once in a while I guess.

btw, this one has also a nice almost luxe interior.
