Anyone imported an RCR kit from the US?
Discussion
Some answers to your query are very simple. VAT will be charged at the point of entry at 20%. The Duty will be dependent on how the kit (parts) are described and an applicable rate applied. Then there will be the handling fee plus VAT. If you ship all the parts in one go, i.e. crated or in a container then this will be in the range £1500 - £2500.
Much more importantly are the issues surrounding getting the fully constructed vehicle through an IVA test. You do not say which car you are considering. All the models will need modifications to meet the requirements of the IVA.
I would strongly advise you download the IVA manual and spend significant time reading it. The document is complex with lots of detail. Some of the requirements are simple, whilst other parts (for a vehicle not designed to meet IVA) can be complex, time consuming and expensive to meet. Also keep an eye on the time-frame ....... in 8 years, 4 months from now you will not be able to register it.
I wish you well.
