Hi guys I am totally new to this .... so if this is in the wrong place please let me know .... my dad Sadly passed away Last month and left his car ... it is a purple formula super 7, such a boss car - unfortunately he was too poorly to look after it this past year so the last MOT expired 19.09.2017. It doesn’t run (think it’s the starter motor), the breaks need looking at and a few other bits. Me and my brothers need to sell it as we can’t do anything with it and hate seeing it sat on the drive when it should be driven and enjoyed like my dad did. ANY help or pointers in the right direction would be brilliant ☺️

Sorry to hear about your Dad.

You could put a classified add on this website or any other, although unless you have a good idea of what the car is worth then an eBay auction is probably the best bet as it will find a reasonable value automatically.

Make sure you take loads of photos including the engine bay and looking underneath if you can, and describe the engine and running gear as accurately as possible.

I hope you get a fair price for it, I have no idea what that would be however!

Also sorry to hear about your dad.

Sound advice from Mr.Grooler!

You could try a site called Locostbuilders - I can't find a working link at the moment, but they are still on FaceBook.

They seem to be the experts on all things Seven related (any manufacturer's version) so you might get some better guidance there.

Sorry to hear about your Dad - having gone through it with mine a couple of years ago, I know it is a difficult time.

If you are on facebook there are several kit car groups which you could advertise it on. There are plenty of folks out there who would love to take this on I'm sure.

Here are a couple

Are you sure you want to sell it given it’s sentimental value? You could hire some storage for a few months to save/find someone to have the bits sorted. Sorry to hear your news, I just think it would be horrible for you to later regret parting company with it. Lovely car by the way smile

It will be worth more running with an MOT. What is your location? Maybe someone on here can give you a hand to persuade it to run?

Echo all of the above.

Well done for getting a photo on here and asking about it before it deteriorates too much.

Is it perhaps a 'Formula 27' car from the photo and description? Do you know what engine is in it, and or able to add a under bonnet shot or two?

As said, obviously if it can be got running reasonably easily, or even MOT'd then that would help the sale, but equally they are easy to trailer and it would less regardless because these cars always do especially when the sun if shining!

As said, make a similar post in a few other places, such as locostbuilders forum (online till very recently so might just be a short glitch) or facebook, then either list it on eBay with good keywords in the title, and share the link around a bit, or list it on PH/Autotrader if you have a reasonable idea of the value.

Thanks guys, yeah I do think it may be a formula 27 tbh, I’ll get some photos of the engine and put it out there - my brothers and I know nothing really about giving it as it was always my dads thing - we decided together we want to sell it - my dad also had a bright green mini bus which he drove daily that we have kept (becoming a bar in my garden) so we associate that more with him than his car, although he did love it on a sunny day

Thank you for all of the advice .... I’ll have to find out maybe how much it is worth next I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

There's also Seven Seven Seven and Seven Spot.
Formula 27 not the most popular or best of the 7 clones but better than say a Robin Hood maybe.
Really depends upon condition and specification which I guess you don't really know. Might be worth getting an enthusiast local to you to give it a look over.
Finally, check the V5C (Registration document) what is it registered as? Hopefully a Formula 27 and not an Escort/Sierra/Cortina or whatever.
Good luck.

I know someone who runs a local youth project giving disadvantaged kids something to keep them off the streets. He gets hold of cheap old cars and teaches them to fix stuff, giving them some skills and a safe haven to go to when things are not well at home/ school/ whatever.

They would give their right arm for something like this that needs attention, engine swap, etc etc

If seeing dads car live on in that way interests you then drop me a PM. I don’t think they have 2 pennies to run together mind so could be challenging in that’s respect. hehe
