Having a discussion with a friend at the moment.

If you were to buy a nascar/late model type car and drop say a Ford Mondeo body on top, wired up lights, demister, horn etc would it be able to be used on the road?

Or would using a older chassis type car shelol make it even easier?

Just general pub talk and not and actual plan.

As the Mondeo is a monocoque/unibody type and the NASCAR is a full spaceframe then no. It's more a question of hanging panels on to the spaceframe to make it "look" like a Mondeo/whatever you choose.

Yes I didn’t mean to keep it a mondeo, just the outer shell for the appearance.

IVA test it and no problem. Using a pre-existing type approved body shell or panels means that loads of the IVA stuff like exterior projections, mirror angles, light position etc is likely to already be sorted as it would have had to comply to achieve mass production type approval as well.

I know someone selling a NASCAR, 15K if you are interested.
Or, build your own from scratch:

I thought about doing this when I saw a cheap Eurocar V8 on Ebay

The easy option is to buy a mondeo etc and swap the plates - if it was converted in stages that would be entirely reasonable - like Triggers broom or Old No.1

The other option is to buy an obsure kitcar / special and do the same, to do it 100% legally would be a nightmare.

In the old days all you needed was an MOT - I put a couple of hillclimbers on the road - great fun !
