Crikey, that's quick. I guess when it's a comprehensive build and all the bits are supplied it just becomes a big lego kit. It's the design, working out and fabrication that takes the time.

My friend has a kit being shipped over any day now, just waiting in the last few parts to be made by FF.
Can’t see IVA being an issue just the normal bending of the rules I suspect.
He plans to have if finished in January so I’ll let you know...
Any idea what price these go for in the UK?Can’t see IVA being an issue just the normal bending of the rules I suspect.

About £2.2k door to door.
Also what is the cost of the Shipping and Duty?

Not trying to be negative ...... just offering some wise words for the uninitiated. I've just had a look at the photo's on the FF web site and if a car was presented for an IVA test as shown in the photo's, then there would be a long list of failures.
Before embarking on a build you need to get the very latest IVA manual and read, read and read again. There will be no 'bending of the rules' and the test is very thorough. Even tiny things will be picked up on.
The number of things that can fail on the radius gauge tests can catch you out. Also the lack of correct markings on some items is an easy trap to fall in. Also paperwork that confirms certain items are fit for the purpose for which they are being used (braided hoses is one of these). There is a huge list that it is very easy to fail on.
As I say, I'm not being negative ...... you just need to do your homework in huge detail. Been there ...... got the T shirt !!!!

Both the chap I know who is building it and I have very recently finished building GT40s and know the rules inside out (passed first time no issues), so no worries there.
The IVA test is not something to be worried about but it does need to be respected, not sure about not bending the rules though, have you ever put a car through IVA? I reckon nearly every one if not all self built cars bend the rules in one way or another...

Has your friend got his kit? Would be great if he could have a thread on hereCan’t see IVA being an issue just the normal bending of the rules I suspect.

As I said ...... I've got the T shirt.
I'm just aware that many people read these threads and there are some very uninformed folk out there. I've advised many guys who have had opportunities to buy part built, very old kits and they have been stunned when advised just how much of the build in now non-compliant.
As you know about GT40's, I'm sure you'll be aware of how many old kits are out there not completed and they would now need a large amount of effort (and cost) to get them through the IVA.
I look forward to reading of how the FF build and test goes. Always good to hear of other folks projects and how they get on.

Dan Walsh at Tech autos is building Factory Five Daytona and cobras professionally so sure he could help you with your query
Not sure I’d be buying one from him yet as I believe he’s only building his first one!I’d trust myself considerably more than anyone else to have a first attempt at one of these cars, and particularly as he’s trying to turn a profit making it...
