Using a tablet as a datalogger - Installation and Choice
Discussion
Good morning,
The ECU I currently have has a very small memory capacity and whilst I can set it up to start and stop when certain parameters are reached, at the frequency I require the logging time is not sufficient to gain any meaningful data to help diagnose a fault I'm having with the gearshift mechanism.
The most cost effective solution for me to achieve what I'm looking for is to run a windows tablet connect to the ECU which will record all of the channels I want at the frequency I need to then interpret once the session is over. I have trialled this with the laptop and it should work.
My question is, have any others done something similar and how is the tablet mounted and which tablet has been used and which parameters should I look for in the tablet. At the present time I must be one of few people that don't own a tablet.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am working on something similar. It's working on the bench. I am using a raspberry pi rs232 connection to the ECU and a switch to start / stop data logging.
The plan is not only to log data from the ECU but also from the chassis allong with GPS data.
For suspension travel linear potentiometers. The car uses G force sensor for AWD front rear power bias and for the active lsd have tapped in to the output from AWD/ LSD ECU as an input for the data logger
