Moving Pedal box and extending footwell?????

Ok,
I don't fit into the 'cockpit' of my westfield properly, I'm too lanky!
I'm am stripping the engine down, when I can get a hoist and stand! So I thought while it's out I would try and move the pedal box away from me and extend the footwell to compensate for movement of pedals!
What do you guys think??

The previous owner of my Dutton Phaeton has done exactly that, not made a bad job of it either. Everything works really well. The only problem seems to have been clearance of the pedals and steering coloum which are now fairly close. Oh and the galss firbe under the bonnet has had to be re designed, but that may be due to the new 2 litre lump being biger than the old 1300. Good luck, Simon.

I was just wondering if it was possible, sounds good, the pedals are a bit high at the moment as well so we'll see what happens!
I'm keeping the same 1600 ford x-flow in it just giving it a good clean out!
I'll have to ring the hire shop, to get the hoist and buy a stand from machine mart !

On closer inspection, the body tub has been cut as close to the front as possible, i.e as soon as the panel is straight and not curved, then he has layed up about 6 inches of new glass. With the body off it would be very easy to constuct a plywood shuttering mould, and you may be able to just do the drivers side, and leave the passengers side as standard. Isn't G/F a wonderfull material for the home builder!
On closer inspection of the footwell, it won't be possible to move the pedal box as the chassis is in the way and also the brake reservior will foul on the engine!
I tried to see if I could move the seat any further back but again chassis is in the way!
The only thing I can think of is to get thinner seats and to get a smaller flat bottomed steering wheel and a spacer!

Would it be possible to use an overhung pedal box, one in which the master cylinders face back towards the driver such as the one Tilton make? These are used in a number of cars precisely because of the problem of the m/c's taking up engine space.
I also have long legs and find this subject very interesting. Years ago (20) I built a Dutton Phaeton V6 and had to move the engine forward and build a new bulkhead to get adequate legroom. It was worth the effort, though.
