Hello all, apologies if this has been answered before.

I've looked through the IVA manual but can find no reference to tyre age. Do they check the date codes for tyres being under a certain age?

Also, how strict are they on tread cracking. Mine are showing signs of small cracks in the tread grooves. The tyres will be replaced in the future when the wheels are refurbed/replaced but the inspection is on the 3rd of Jan and could do with not shelling out another £700 right now on decent tyres, or £200 on some "non-main brand" rubber that are just going to be thrown away.

Thanks in advance all!

There is no specific mention of tyre dates and condition but you may fall foul of something in the 'General Construction' catch-all if the examiner feels that they compromise overall safety.

There was no problem with mine, even though the sidewalls were cracked on the old tyres that were fitted on my wheels when I bought them.

Needless to say, I got them swapped within a few days of picking the car up from Arden!
