Cant answer re the legalities bit lots of people in our local group takes their kids out.

I guess if they're in a proper seat and it's fastened in correctly you should be ok just don't let the other half think too much about kit car collisions

I have a six year old granddaughter - I wouldn't take her out in my Westie for another couple of years until she's physically big enough to be held in by the harnesses

Even at six years old, she wouldn't be able to see anything forwards anyway - a three year old would only see out to the side

When my kids were younger I used to strap the car seat too the car using the racing harness. I then used to put the child into the seat as per normal. They loved it. Buy good quality children's ear defenders, and if aero screen decent eye protection.

A mate of mine made an expanding foam seat to sit into the race seat.

Start them young smile my dad took me to the Westfield factory when I was about 10 and I bought one 15 years later...
